The new construction method known as Industrialized Building System (IBS) offers several benefits compared to the Conventional Building System (CBS); however, IBS is perceived by most of the practitioners to be an expensive method for being utilized in construction industry. Whilst relatively numerous studies have been carried out on the subject of IBS and CBS methods, there has not been any exploiting building information modeling (BIM) as a useful tool to calculate quantities, time, and cost needed to construct building with each of the two aforementioned methods. The aim of this paper is to calculate cost of two similar buildings (one is constructed with IBS method and other one with CBS method) and compare them in terms of economy based on a chosen case study and same initial investment. To this end, the construction cost of buildings is calculated using BIM software, namely Revit Architecture and Navisworks Manage for modeling the chosen case study and estimating construction cost, respectively. The findings indicated that IBS was not economic in low investment of company; however, with investment on more than 100 units of IBS, this method was shown more economical compared to CBS method. In addition, the initial investment on IBS method could be returned when more than 200 units of IBS were implemented in the projects.

In order to raise the level of management in building construction cost, knowledge management approach is proposed in this paper. An XML (Extensible Markup Language)-based paradigm matrix is established to represent construction cost control knowledge. In the matrix, the row elements are made up of feature attributes, and construction working procedures are the components of the column. Furthermore, based on the Hamming weighted proximity, the closeness between new construction projects and target case is calculated such that the similarity is obtained, by this method the knowledge matching is achieved. These methods remedy non-standardized description of the construction cost control knowledge and inefficient retrieval of the construction cost control cases, which offers a basis for knowledge management in construction cost control.

High voltage TEMs were introduced commercially thirty years ago, with the installations of 500 kV Hitachi instruments at the Universities of Nogoya and Tokyo. Since that time a total of 51 commercial instruments, having maximum accelerating potentials of 0.5-3.5 MV, have been delivered. Prices have gone from about a dollar per volt for the early instruments to roughly twenty dollars per volt today, which is not so unreasonable considerinp inflation and vastly improved electronics and other improvements. The most expensive HVEM (the 3.5 MV instrument at Osaka University) cost about 5 percent of the construction cost of the USA's latest synchrotron.Table 1 briefly traces the development of HVEM in this country for the materials sciences. There are now only three available instruments at two sites: the 1.2 MeV HVEM at Argonne National Lab, and 1.0 and 1.5 MeV instruments at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Fortunately, both sites are user facilities funded by DOE for the materials research community.

The main provisions of the concept of technology of diamond cutting and drilling of building structures are considered. The innovativeness of the technology, its main possibilities and advantages are presented. Carrying out works with the help of this technology in underwater conditions expands its use when constructing and reconstructing hydraulic structure. The use of diamond drilling equipment with motors equipped with an internal combustion engine is considered. Drilling holes with a variable diameter during the reconstruction of the runways of airfields makes it possible to combine the landing mats into a single structure. The ability to cut inside the concrete mass, parallel to the front surface, has no analogues among the methods of concrete treatment. The use of this technology for producing blind openings in the body of concrete without weakening the structure is also unique. Work with precision quality in cutting and diamond drilling of concrete and reinforced concrete was noted by architects and began to be implemented in the manufacture of inter-room and inter-floor openings. Non-destructive approach to the fragmentation of building structures allows them to be reused. The technology of diamond cutting and drilling is located at the junction of new construction, repair, reconstruction of buildings and structures, and dismantling of structures. Attention is paid to the complexity and combinatorial application of diamond technology. Economic efficiency and ecological safety of diamond technology are presented. The main directions of further research for the development of technology are indicated.
