The conditions of the existence of extreme on the concentration dependences of absolute temperature (x are mole fractions) T = Tα(xkα) and T = Tβ(xkβ) denoting equilibrium between two binary regular solutions are generally developed under two assumptions: 1) Free enthalpy change of pure components k = i, j at transition from phase α to β is a linear function of temperature. 2) Concentration dependence of excess free enthalpy (identical with enthalpy) of solutions α and β, respectively, is described in regular model by one concentration and temperature independent parameter for each individual phase.

Two separated relaxations α1 and α2 with different temperature dependences are identified in the mixtures. They are attributed to the dynamics associated with the high-Tg (α1) and the low-Tg component (α2) with distinct Tg concentration dependences.

The solid solutions of [Formula: see text] were synthesized by solid-phase reactions from powder components of CaS, BaS, and Ga2S3. The temperature-concentration dependences of the Gibbs free energy of formation of [Formula: see text] solid solutions from ternary compounds and phase diagrams of the CaGa2S4–BaGa2S4 were determined by a calculation method. It was revealed that continuous solid solutions are formed in these systems. The spinodal decomposition of [Formula: see text] solid solutions into two phases is predicted at ordinary temperatures.

Abstract The mutual diffusion in liquid cesium-lead alloys containing from 20 to 70 at.% Pb is investigated by a gamma-ray attenuation technique. The obtained data are compared with the results of similar studies for Li-Pb, Na-Pb, and K-Pb melts, carried out by us earlier. The concentration dependences of the interdiffusion coefficient for alkali-lead liquid systems demonstrate pronounced maxima in the vicinity of 20 or 50 at.% Pb. These phenomena confirm a tendency for chemical short-range ordering in liquid alloys.

The concentration dependences of the effective permittivity of an anisotropic composite containing co-directional particles in the form of oblate or elongated ellipsoids of rotation – spheroids – in the dielectric matrix are obtained. The calculation is made by the numerical solution of a system of coupled quadratic and integral equations obtained by a strict modification of the quasi-static Bruggeman theory. It is shown that the traditional (simplified) modification of the Bruggeman theory, widely used for calculating anisotropic composites, gives errors of different signs for the longitudinal and transverse polarization of electromagnetic waves relative to the axis of spheroids. In this case, the dependences of errors on the concentration of particles are non-monotonic, and the extremes observed on them can exceed 100%. Moreover, the position and magnitude of the extremes strongly depend on the ellipticity of the particles, as well as on the contrast of their permittivity with the matrix.
