The paper presents an in depth study of the forward and backward pseudorapidity correlations for pions and protons produced in a 12C – emulsion interaction at 4.5 A ∙ GeV/c. The angular distribution of protons and the pseudorapidity distribution of pions are pictured. The asymmetry parameter (A) and the forward – backward ratio (F/B) are shown as a function of the number of heavy particles (nh).

We consider the asymmetry in the decay Ω−→Ξ−γ assuming that a vector meson dominance approach for the s→dγ transition gives the dominant contribution. Since in this long-distance approximation the decay is due to a single quark transition s→dγ, the angular distribution asymmetry is given by the single positive asymmetry parameter [Formula: see text]. We also discuss the asymmetry in Ξ→Σ−γ, which is expected to be between −0.2 and 0.3.

ABSTRACTFinite-size scaling is applied to the Hamiltonian version of the asymmetric Z3-Potts model. Results for the phase boundary of the commensurate region and for the corresponding critical index ν are presented. It is argued that there is no Lifshitz point, the incommensurate phase extending down to small values of the asymmetry parameter.
