The purpose of the present investigation is to determine numerical results in respect of the heat transfer to the wall of a duct which has an elliptic cross section and through which a hot viscous fluid flows with a steady established laminar motion. The wall of the channel is at a constant temperature which is less than that of the entering fluid. Results for several cross-sectional eccentricities are presented and correlated.

A study is made of an unsteady flow of an incompressible viscous fluid with embedded small inert spherical particles contained in a tube of elliptic cross-section due to a periodic pressure gradient acting along the length of the tube. The solutions for the fluid velocity and the particle velocity are obtained for large and small times. It is shown that the effect of particles on the flow is significant in the small-time solution while the large-tlme solution shows no effect of the particles on the flow.

The start from rest of a thin cylindrical body with elliptic cross section in a viscous incompressible fluid is studied numerically for various acceleration models. Force and moment coefficients are computed. The role of the starting vortices behind the leading and trailing edges in the generation of lift is investigated.
