For the existed river channel terrain measurement method defects such as complex measurement process and high performance equipments requirement, in the paper a terrain measurement method based on binocular vision is proposed. Firstly, in proposed system binocular vision measurement parameters are calculated on the basis of monocular calibration; secondly, artificial signs are located in river channel and detected based on improved Harris corners detection algorithm; thirdly, the feature corners in binocular images are matched based on epipolar constraint and SIFT algorithm; finally, for corrected images feature corners location method is proposed, and the river channel terrain is measured. Experiments show that in the proposed method the river channel terrain can be measured accurately, and the method has good reference value to measure other irregular scenes.

As the rapid progress and development of DSP technology, a new way to solve the video signal processing was accepted. At present, binocular measurement instrument are mostly based on image capture card and PC on the market, expensive and bulky. For this problem, binocular vision measurement system based on DSP has been used. The design of elementary program structure about video processing which based on DSP/BIOS was finished and verified for its real-time. The results of the experiment show that the driver can be well used in the system.

A method for measuring block thicknesses is proposed by the machine vision measurement. Equations of the measuring base plane and the light plane are formed by calibration. Then, the equation of the light strip image, that is, the image of the intersection between the base plane and light one, is established by the projection relation. Equation of the image of the light strip on the measured plane can be determined by the fitting. Since the light strip on the measuring base plane is parallel to one on the measured plane, the thickness of the measuring block is measured by using the two equations. The experiment evaluates the measurement accuracy of the measurement method and analyzes the influence of some factors on the measurement results.
