Abstract We revisit the construction in four-dimensional gauged Spin(4) supergravity of the holographic duals to topologically twisted three-dimensional $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 field theories. Our focus in this paper is to highlight some subtleties related to preserving supersymmetry in AdS/CFT, namely the inclusion of finite counterterms and the necessity of a Legendre transformation to find the dual to the field theory generating functional. Studying the geometry of these supergravity solutions, we conclude that the gravitational free energy is indeed independent from the metric of the boundary, and it vanishes for any smooth solution.

Abstract In this paper we study the Wiedemann-Franz laws for transport in 2+1 dimensions, and the action of Sl(2, ℤ) on this transport, for theories with an AdS/CMT dual. We find that Sl(2, ℤ) restricts the RG-like flow of conductivities and that the Wiedemann-Franz law is $$ \overline{L}=\overline{\kappa}/\left( T\sigma \right)={cg}_4^2\uppi /3 $$ L ¯ = κ ¯ / Tσ = cg 4 2 π / 3 , from the weakly coupled gravity dual. In a self-dual theory this value is also the value of L = κ/(Tσ) in the weakly coupled field theory description. Using the formalism of a 0+1 dimensional effective action for both generalized SY Kq models and the AdS4 gravity dual, we calculate the transport coefficients and show how they can be matched at large q. We construct a generalization of this effective action that is invariant under Sl(2, ℤ) and can describe vortex conduction and integer quantum Hall effect.

Abstract We probe warped BTZ ×S3 geometry with various string solitons and explore the classical integrability criteria of the associated phase space configurations using Kovacic’s algorithm. We consider consistent truncation of the parent sigma model into one dimension and obtain the corresponding normal variational equations (NVE). Two specific examples have been considered where the sigma model is reduced over the subspace of the full target space geometry. In both examples, NVEs are found to possess Liouvillian form of solutions which ensures the classical integrability of the associated phase space dynamics. We address similar issues for the finite temperature counterpart of the duality, where we analyse the classical phase space of the string soliton probing warped BTZ black string geometry. Our analysis reveals a clear compatibility between normal variational equations and the rules set by the Kovacic’s criteria. This ensures the classical integrability of the parent sigma model for the finite temperature extension of the duality conjecture.
