Abstract In the process of conventional rope core drilling, the connection and disassembly of waterway occupy a lot of auxiliary time, which seriously affects the drilling efficiency, and even causes drilling or safety accidents. The waterway control assembly and application method for the rope coring rig developed by the author’s team can control the waterway flow direction. It does not need to disassemble the water pipe frequently to control the raising speed of the inner pipe and avoid damaging the drilling tool too fast.Introduction.

The article describes the design of drilling cutters most commonly used in coal mines in Russia. The area of their application is given versus the type of a drilling machine and hardness of rocks. The implemented research aimed at finding the causes of failure of drilling cutters shows the types of breakdowns of drilling cutters and their causes. A review of the recommendations and modern engineering solutions on increase in the life of rotary drilling tools is given. Percentages of the cutter failure causes over the period from 2010 to 2014 are presented. The main failure cause of cutters is found to be the blunting of the blades of tungsten-cobalt cutting plates. The studies conducted earlier by the authors of the article indicate the possibility of extending the life of a drilling tool by reinforcing its cutting plates with superhard composite materials. In this connection, the use of composites based on cubic boron nitride has been proposed for creating cutting inserts for drilling cutters. The article also describes the study of rock drilling rates with various cutters mounted on hydraulic and pneumatic drilling machines. The obtained information can be used when planning drilling in coal mines. It is shown that the highest drilling rate can be achieved with hydraulic drilling machines equipped with triple cutters. It is found that with the growth of rock hardness on the scale of Professor M. M. Protodyakonov, reduction in the drilling rate of a hydraulic drilling rig with a three-blade cutter occurs more intensively than with a pneumatic drilling rig with a two-blade cutter. It is revealed that at the rock hardness of 10 on the Protodyakonov scale, drilling rates of different design cutters differ slightly. The study was supported by the President of the Russian Federation, Grant for Young Candidates of Sciences—MK-6689.2018.8.

Rotary drilling rigs, general construction equipment, are widely used for deep drilling of ground for the foundations of public works. A new 250kN.m-type rotary drilling rig, most widely used in this field, is under development, and this study focuses on the operational safety of the mast subassembly on the basis of structure analysis of the mast subassembly using a finite element method with ANSYS. When using a drilling rig, an electric rotary drive supplies power for drilling. Here, the elevation of the rotary drive along the mast needs to be changed according to the geological construction environment. Through the analysis, the allowable torques at various elevations of the rotary drive are evaluated, also the safety of the drilling tool called the kelly bar subassembly is examined. Finally, the suitability of the mast subassembly design is examined from the analysis results.

For rocks complexity, geologic drilling is a high cost project, and it is high risk. Drill monitor is an important tool in monitoring drilling, scientific analysis and decision. It can continuously monitor drilling process, identify and forecast abnormal operation modes. It is the key means to reduce drilling accidents and ensure high efficiency, high quality and low cost. This paper analyzed some problems of domestic drill monitor based on the research status on drill monitor at home and abroad. Author considered all hydraulic core drilling rig with 2000m drilling capacity as research object, and modularly designed multi-drilling-parameter data acquisition system according to the geologic exploration own characteristics. This system can identify typical drilling operation modes used data handling techniques of wavelet analysis and time series analysis. With implement of state geology investigation strategy, drilling workload increase greatly, drilling depth increase continuously, and the drill monitor has a very wide application prospect.

Abstract When the nasal and oral passages converge and a bolus enters the pharynx, it is critical that breathing and swallow motor patterns become integrated to allow safe passage of the bolus through the pharynx. Breathing patterns must be reconfigured to inhibit inspiration, and upper airway muscle activity must be recruited and reconfigured to close the glottis and laryngeal vestibule, invert the epiglottis, and ultimately protect the lower airways. Failure to close and protect the glottal opening to the lower airways, or loss of the integration and coordination of swallow and breathing, increases the risk of penetration or aspiration. A neural swallow central pattern generator (CPG) controls the pharyngeal swallow phase and is located in the medulla. We propose that this swallow CPG is functionally organized in a holarchical behavioral control assembly (BCA) and is recruited with pharyngeal swallow. The swallow BCA holon reconfigures the respiratory CPG to produce the stereotypical swallow breathing pattern, consisting of swallow apnea during swallowing followed by prolongation of expiration following swallow. The timing of swallow apnea and the duration of expiration is a function of the presence of the bolus in the pharynx, size of the bolus, bolus consistency, breath cycle, ventilatory state and disease.

Abstract Geothermal energy source is the heat from the Earth, which ranges from the shallow ground (the upper 100 m of the Earth) to the hot water and hot rock which is a few thousand meters beneath the Earth's surface. In both cases the so-called open systems for geothermal energy resource exploitation consist of a groundwater production well to supply heat energy and an injection well to return the cooled water, from the heat pump after the thermal energy transfer, in the underground. In the paper an analytical method for a rapid estimation of the ground water flow direction effect on the coupled production well and injection well system will be proposed. The method will be illustrated with solutions and images for representative flow directions respect to the axis of the production/injection well system.
