Abstract This article argues that Animal Crossing: New Horizons embodies the culture of Slowness discovered by many during the covid-19 lockdown in 2020, and that its acclaim points to a future for Slowness in games and, perhaps, in lifestyle more generally. The title will be considered within the context of Radde-Antweiler et al.’s framework of gamevironments, which considers the cultural landscape of a given game based on its technical aspects and its reception among audiences. Through this, the Slowness in the game can be identified. It will subsequently be argued that this Slowness is the result of Shinto presence in the game, as the tradition is largely concerned with the natural environment and mindfulness, contrasting with the values promoted by capitalism and globalisation. Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its popularity point to a growing discontent with the status quo of ‘fast’ living.

Sports are a well-represented motif in Etruscan iconography since the Orientalizing Period, with a predilection for horse racing and boxing bouts performed to music. Contrary to current opinion, Etruscan sport shows strong originality in comparison with a so-called Greek model on many points, such as technical aspects of chariot-racing, the status of athletes, the presence of women in public space; its influence on Roman ludi has been considerable. Beside funerary games organized in a gentilician or clan-based framework, the Etruscans also were acquainted with sacred games, in particular the Pan-Etruscan games in which the members of the League of Twelve Cities competed in the sanctuary of Voltumna at Orvieto.

It is important to conduct a regular study on the status and the needs of the users’ demand, along with the development of Xinjiang electronic government (E-government). Literature reviews show that researches on Chinese E-government tend to focus on the technical aspects. However, there is little research focused on the E-government users, especially of Xinjiang. This article provides a better scope of knowledge on the Xinjiang E-government users and their demand to use and benefit from E-government information and services.
