Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy (HIPEC) is believed to improve outcomes in well-selected patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis. However, morbidity and mortality rates associated with this procedure are substantial. Here, we describe the case of a previously healthy young man who underwent CRS with hyperthermic IP oxaliplatin and developed one episode of tonic-clonic seizure on the second postoperative day.

Among atypical antipsychotics, quetiapine is commonly prescribed and considered to have a favorable side effect and safety profile. Here, we report the case of a patient who developed a generalized tonic-clonic seizure 28 hours following ingestion of 1,400 mg of quetiapine. Review of the literature identifies delayed-onset seizure as a potential complication of quetiapine overdose. Unique to this case, delayed-onset seizures occurred in a patient with a relatively low dose of quetiapine and no obvious toxidrome, suggesting that this reaction may be an important consideration in the management of quetiapine overdose. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of quetiapine may explain this unusual phenomenon.

Opioids are commonly used and abused substance worldwide. Opioid withdrawal may manifest as severe muscle cramps, diarrhea, rhinorrhea, lacrimation, piloerection, yawning, and fever. Here, we report a 32 year old man with heroin dependence, presented with new onset generalized tonic-clonic seizure following heroin withdrawal. Seizure is a life-threating condition and rare phenomenon in opioid withdrawal therefore, reporting of this case is important. It may help clinician to be aware and consider seizure as a part of opioid withdrawal.

Introduction: Neurogenic pulmonary oedema (NPO) is a form of pulmonary oedema which can develop after an acute central nervous system (CNS) lesion, most often a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Its pathogenesis is associated with a surge of catecholamines which are released into the systemic circulation following an abrupt increase in intracranial pressure or a strategic CNS lesion. NPO typically presents with dyspnoea, tachypnoea, hypoxia, pink frothy sputum, bilateral crackles on auscultation, and bilateral infiltrates on chest X-ray in a few hours or days following the event. Case report: The following case report describes a case of hyper-acute NPO following a SAH, which presented as acute respiratory failure in the minutes after the event and required fast and aggressive treatment in the prehospital setting. Conclusion: The management of NPO is primarily focused on prompt diagnosis and treatment of a CNS event and supportive care.
