One of the promising sources of gravitational radiation is a binary system composed of compact stars. It is an important question of how the rotation of the bodies and the eccentricity of the orbit affect the detectable signal. Here we present a method to evaluate the gravitational wave polarization states for inspiralling compact binaries with comparable mass. We consider eccentric orbits and the spin-orbit contribution in the case of one spinning object up to 1.5 post-Newtonian order. For circular orbits our results are in agreement with existing calculations.

The problem of back reaction of the gravitational radiation of the two merging black holes on the metric of the spacetime is investigated. It is shown for some models that large energy density of the gravitational waves close to the merger can lead to the disappearance of the visible accretion disc of the merged pair of black holes.

We study the deconfining phase transition from a hadronic gas phase consisting of massive pions to a quark–gluon plasma (QGP) phase containing gluons, massless up and down quarks, and massive strange quarks. The two phases are supposed to coexist in a finite volume, and the finite size effects are studied, in the two cases of thermally driven and density driven deconfining phase transitions. Finite-mass effects are also examined, then the color-singletness condition for the QGP is taken into account and finite size effects are investigated in this case also.
