In the title compound,catena-poly[[[N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxamide]chloridozinc(II)]-μ-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxylato-[[N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxamide]chloridozinc(II)]-μ-[N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxamide]], [Zn2(C14H8O4)Cl2(C26H22N4O2)3]n, the ZnIIcentre is four-coordinate and approximately tetrahedral, bonding to one carboxylate O atom from a bidentate bridging dianionic [1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxylate ligand, to two pyridine N atoms from twoN,N′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxamide ligands and to one chloride ligand. The pyridyl ligands exhibit bidentate bridging and monodentate terminal coordination modes. The bidentate bridging pyridyl ligand and the bridging [1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′-dicarboxylate ligand both lie on special positions, with inversion centres at the mid-points of their central C—C bonds. These bridging groups link the ZnIIcentres into a one-dimensional tape structure that propagates along the crystallographicbdirection. The tapes are interlinked into a two-dimensional layer in theabplane through N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the monodentate ligands. In addition, the thermal stability and solid-state photoluminescence properties of the title compound are reported.

The title compound,catena-poly[[[bis(ethylenediamine-κ2N,N′)platinum(II)]- μ-chlorido-[bis(ethylenediamine)platinum(IV)]-μ-chlorido] tetrakis{4-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)diazenyl]benzenesulfonate} dihydrate], {[PtIIPtIVCl2(C2H8N2)4](HOC6H4N=NC6H4SO3)4·2H2O}n, has a linear chain structure composed of square-planar [Pt(en)2]2+(en is ethylenediamine) and elongated octahedraltrans-[PtCl2(en)2]2+cations stacked alternately, bridged by Cl atoms, along thebaxis. The Pt atoms are located on an inversion centre, while the Cl atoms are disordered over two sites and form a zigzag ...Cl—PtIV—Cl...PtII... chain, with a PtIV—Cl bond length of 2.3140 (14) Å, an interatomic PtII...Cl distance of 3.5969 (15) Å and a PtIV—Cl...PtIIangle of 170.66 (6)°. The structural parameter indicating the mixed-valence state of the Pt atom, expressed by δ = (PtIV—Cl)/(PtII...Cl), is 0.643.

A new trimethyltin(IV) coordination polymer, [Sn(CH3)3(C7H8O2P)], has been prepared by treatment of methylphenylphosphinic acid and trimethyltin chloride with sodium ethoxide in methanol. In the solid state, the title compound adopts an infinite one-dimensional polymeric chain structure with each SnIVatom adopting a distorted trigonal–bipyramidal geometry.

In the title complex, diaqua(1H-imidazole-κN3)(nitrato-κ2O,O′)bis(4-oxopent-2-en-2-olato-κ2O,O′)lanthanum(III), [La(C5H7O2)2(NO3)(C3H4N2)(H2O)2], the La atom is coordinated by eight O atoms of two acetylacetonate (acac) anions acting as bidentate ligands, two water molecule as monodentate ligands, one nitrate anions as a bidentate ligand and one N atom of an imidazolate (ImH) molecule as a monodentate ligand. Thus, the coordination number of the La atom is nine in a monocapped square antiprismatic polyhedron. There are three types of intermolecular hydrogen bonds between ligands, the first involving nitrate–water O...H—O interactions running along the [001] direction, the second involving acac–water O...H—O interactions along the [010] direction and the third involving an Im–nitrate N—H...O interaction along the [100] direction (five interactions of this type). Thus, an overall one-dimensional network structure is generated. The molecular plane of an ImH molecule is almost parallel to that of a nitrate ligand, making an angle of only 6.04 (12)°. Interestingly, the ImH plane is nearly perpendicular to the planes of two neighbouring acac ligands.

The title compound is a new ionic complex, (C13H13ClN)[Ni(C4N2S2)2] or [ClBzPyMe][Ni(mnt)2] [where ClBzPyMe is 1-(2-chlorobenzyl)-2-methylpyridinium and mnt is maleonitriledithiolate]. In the anion the NiIII atom is coordinated by the four S atoms of two mnt2− ligands and exhibits the expected square-planar coordination geometry. In the [ClBzPyMe]+ cation the benzene and pyridine rings are twisted with respect to the C/C/N plane incorporating the methylene C atom that links them. The [Ni(mnt)2]− anions and [ClBzPyMe]+ cations stack into well segregated columns along the a axis, and the NiIII ions form a one-dimensional zigzag chain through weak Ni...S, S...S, and π–π interactions.

The title compound, [CuNa(C4H3O7S)(C10H8N2)(H2O)3]n, consists of one CuIIcation, one NaIcation, one 2-sulfonatobutanedioate trianion (SSC3−), one 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) ligand and three coordinated water molecules as the building unit. The coordination of the CuIIcation is composed of two pyridyl N atoms, one water O atom and two carboxylate O atoms in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry with an axial elongation. The NaIcation is six-coordinated by three water molecules and three carboxylate O atoms from three SSC3−ligands in a distorted octahedral geometry. Two SSC3−ligands link two CuIIcations to form a Cu2(SSC)2(bpy)2macrocyclic unit lying across an inversion centre, which is further linked by NaIcationsviaNa—O bonds to give a one-dimensional chain. Interchain hydrogen bonds link these chains to form a two-dimensional layer, which is further extended into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework through π–π stacking interactions. The thermal stability of the title compound has also been investigated.
