In dibenzylammonium hydrogen maleate [or dibenzylammonium (2Z)-3-carboxyprop-2-enoate], C14H16N+·C4H3O4−, (I), the anion contains a fairly short and nearly linear O—H...O hydrogen bond, with an O...·O distance of 2.4603 (16) Å, but with the H atom clearly offset from the mid-point of the O...O vector. The counter-ions in (I) are linked by two N—H...O hydrogen bonds to formC22(6) chains and these chains are weakly linked into sheets by a C—H...O hydrogen bond. Bis(dibenzylamino)methane, C29H30N2, (II), crystallizes with two independent molecules lying across twofold rotation axes in the space groupC2/c, and the molecules are conformationally chiral; there are no direction-specific intermolecular interactions in the crystal structure of (II).

The molecules of (I) pack with inversion symmetry stacked diagonally along thea-axis direction. Weak C—H...Br intramolecular interactions in each of the four molecules in the asymmetric unit are observed. In (II), weak C—H...O, bifurcated three-center intermolecular interactions forming dimers along with weak C—H...π and π–π stacking interactions are observed, linking the molecules into sheets along [001]. A weak C—H...Br intramolecular interaction is also present. There are no classical hydrogen bonds present in either structure.

Two independent molecules of the title solvated complex, [V(C16H14N2O2)O]·CH3OH, also known as [N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]oxidovanadium(IV) or vanadyl salen, crystallize in the asymmetric unit. Each disordered methanol solvent molecule [occupancy ratios 0.678 (4):0.322 (4) and 0.750 (5):0.250 (5)] is linked to a [N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]oxidovanadium(IV) molecule by an O—H...O hydrogen bond and to others by C—H...O hydrogen bonds. The resulting extended structure consists of a bilayer of molecules parallel to theabplane. Despite the fact that solvates are common in complexes derived from substituted analogues of theN,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine ligand, the title solvate is the first one of [N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]oxidovanadium(IV) to be structurally characterized. The two vanadyl species have very similar internal geometries, which are best characterized as distorted square-based pyramidal with the vanadium atom displaced from the N2O2basal plane by 0.5966 (9) Å in the direction of the doubly-bonded oxide ligand.

In the title compound, [Co(C10H8N2)3](C9H5N4O)2, the tris(2,2′-bipyridine)cobalt(II) dication lies across a twofold rotation axes in the space group C2/c. The N atoms of the three bipyridine ligands form a distorted octahedron around the cobalt ion. All the N atoms of the polynitrile 1,1,3,3-tetracyano-2-ethoxypropenide anions participate in C—H...N hydrogen bonds ensuring crystal cohesion and forming a three-dimensional structure. The structure is further stabilized by C—H...π(cation) and anion...π(cation) interactions.

The title compound, C19H16N2O, crystallized with two independent molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond in each molecule with the phenol ring being inclined to the central benzene ring by 4.93 (14) and 7.12 (14)° in moleculesAandB, respectively. The conformation of the two molecules differs essentially in the orientation of the terminal aminophenyl ring with respect to the central benzene ring; this dihedral angle is 50.51 (4)° in moleculeAand 54.61 (14)° in moleculeB. The two outer aromatic rings are inclined to one another by 51.39 (14) and 49.88 (14)° in moleculesAandB, respectively. The structure of butorphanol hydrogen tartrate {(9R,13S,14S)-(-)-17-(cyclobutylmethyl)morphinan-3,14-diol (2S,3S)-(-)-hydrogen tartrate} (C21H29NO2 .C4H6O6) was solved by direct methods and refined anisotropically to the R value of 0.029 for 2 069 observed reflections. The title morphine analogue crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with lattice parameters a = 7.620(1), b = 9.140(1), c = 9.591(1) Å, α = 105.48(1), β = 112.91(1), γ = 84.29(1)°, Z = 1. The butorphanol B ring possesses the 3E envelope conformation with small 3H2 distortion, C and D rings have a regular chair conformation. The intramolecular N17-H17...O2 hydrogen bond is observed in crystal structure of the title compound. The butorphanol and hydrogen tartrate molecules are joined together by means of O2-H(O2)...O7, O1-H(O1)...O7' and O3-H(O3)...O8" hydrogen bonds to form networks.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H23BrN2O, contains two independent molecules (AandB), in which the orientations of the 4-isobutylphenyl units are different. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 88.45 (8)° in moleculeAand 89.87 (8)° in moleculeB. MoleculesAandBare linked by a C—H...N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, molecules are linked into chains running along theaaxis by intermolcular N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C—H...π interactions. The presence of pseudosymmetry in the structure suggests the higher symmetry space groupPbca. However, attempts to refine the structure in this space group resulted in a disorder model with highR(0.097) andwR(0.257) values. The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.595 (4):0.405 (4) domain ratio.

AbstractThe crystal structures and Hirshfeld surface analyses of the des-A-B-aromatic steroid derivative, (3a,9b)-1,2,3a,4,5,9b-hexahydro-7-methoxy-3a-methyl-3H-benz[e]-inden-3-one (or 5-methoxy-des-A-estra-5,7,9-triene-17-one) 1, its acetohydrazide derivative, 2, and its hydrazone derivative, 3, are reported. All three compounds crystallize in chiral space groups: compounds 1 and 2 in the orthorhombic space group P212121 each with one molecule in the asymmetric unit, and compound 3 in the monoclinic space group P21 with two similar but independent molecules, Mol A and Mol B, in the asymmetric unit. Both the five-membered and six-membered non-aromatic rings in all three compounds have envelope or near envelope shapes. In compounds 2 and 3 the N=N units have (E)-arrangements. The intermolecular interactions in crystals of compound 1 are C–H · · · O hydrogen bonds and C–H · · · π interactions, in compound 2 N–H · · · O and C–H · · · O hydrogen bonds and C–H · · · π interactions are present, while in compound 3 there are just C–H · · · π interactions. An important substructure in 1 is a sheet of molecules, composed of ${\rm{R}}_6^6(44)$ rings, formed from C–H · · · O(methoxy) and C–H · · · O(carbonyl) hydrogen bonds, the molecules of which form columns linked via the B and D rings, i.e. in a head-to-tail fashion. Compound 2 is an acylhydrazonyl compound, in which the two independent molecules are linked into asymmetric dimers via strong classical N–H · · · O hydrogen bonds, with the formation of ${\rm{R}}_2^2(8)$ rings. In both 1 and 2, further intermolecular interactions result in 3-dimensional structures, while compound 3 has a 1-dimensional structure arising from C–H · · · O interactions generating spiral chains. The results have been compared with existing data.

The crystal structure of aripiprazole nitrate (systematic name: 4-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-1-{4-[(2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolin-7-yl)oxy]butyl}piperazin-1-ium nitrate), C23H28Cl2N3O2+·NO3−or AripH+·NO3−, is presented and the molecule compared with the aripiprazole molecules reported so far in the literature. Bond distances and angles appear very similar, except for a slight lengthening of the C—NH distances involving the protonated N atom, and the main differences are to be found in the molecular spatial arrangement (revealed by the sequence of torsion angles) and the intermolecular interactions (resulting from structural elements specific to this structure,viz. the nitrate counter-ions on one hand and the extra protons on the other hand as hydrogen-bond acceptors and donors, respectively). The result is the formation of [100] strips, laterally linked by weak π–π and C—Cl...π interactions, leading to a family of undulating sheets parallel to (010).
