Two new mononuclear coordination compounds, bis{4-[(hydroxyimino)methyl]pyridinium} diaquabis(pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylato-κ2N,O2)zincate(II), (C6H7N2O)2[Zn(C7H3NO4)2(H2O)2], (1), and (pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato-κ3O2,N,O6)bis[N-(pyridin-4-ylmethylidene-κN)hydroxylamine]zinc(II), [Zn(C7H3NO4)(C6H6N2O)2], (2), have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffractometry. The centrosymmetric ZnIIcation in (1) is octahedrally coordinated by two chelating pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylate ligands and by two water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. In (2), the ZnIIcation is coordinated by a tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate dianion and by twoN-(pyridin-4-ylmethylidene)hydroxylamine molecules in a distortedC2-symmetric trigonal bipyramidal coordination geometry.

The title compound, poly[[diaqua-1κ2O-tetrakis(μ3-pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylato)-2:1:2′κ10N,O2:O2′,O3:O3′;2:1:2′κ8O3:O3′:N,O2-diiron(III)strontium(II)] dihydrate], {[Fe2Sr(C7H3O4)4(H2O)2]·2H2O}n, which has triclinic (P\overline{1}) symmetry, was prepared by the reaction of pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, SrCl2·6H2O and Fe(OAc)2(OH) (OAc is acetate) in the presence of imidazole in water at 363 K. In the crystal structure, the pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylate (pydc2−) ligand exhibits μ3-η1,η1:η1:η1and μ3-η1,η1:η1,η1:η1coordination modes, bridging two FeIIIcations and one SrIIcation. The SrIIcation, which is located on an inversion centre, is eight-coordinated by six O atoms of four pydc2−ligands and two water molecules. The coordination geometry of the SrIIcation can be best described as distorted dodecahedral. The FeIIIcation is six-coordinated by O and N atoms of four pydc2−ligands in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. Each FeIIIcation bridges two neighbouring FeIIIcations to form a one-dimensional [Fe2(pydc)4]nchain. The chains are connected by SrIIcations to form a three-dimensional framework. The topology type of this framework istfj. The structure displays O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonding.

AbstractTwo Mn(II) complexes, {[Mn(BIPMO)2Cl2] · 2(H2O)}n (1) and {[Mn(BIPMO)2(SCN)2] · 2(CH3OH)}n (2) (BIPMO = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone) with V-shaped BIPMO ligands, were synthesized and characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses along with their single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The Mn(II) ions in 1 and 2 are both six-coordinated to four nitrogen atoms of four BIPMO ligands and two anions (Cl− for 1, and SCN− for 2) to form a distorted octahedral geometry.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, Ag[Cr(C11H14N2O8)]·3H2O, contains one [Cr(1,3-pdta)]−anion [1,3-pdta is (propane-1,3-diyldinitrilo)tetraacetate], one Ag+cation and three water molecules. The Cr3+ion is coordinated to the four O and two N atoms of the 1,3-pdta ligand, displaying a distorted octahedral geometry. The mean Cr—N and Cr—O bond lengths are 2.0727 (17) and 1.9608 (15) Å, respectively. The conformations of the chelate rings were found to be envelope for the glycinates and twist-boat for the six-membered diamine (T) ring. The Ag+cation is surrounded by six O atoms from three non-coordinated carbonyl O atoms of neighbouring 1,3-pdta groups and three water molecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonding involving the water O—H group as donor and the carboxyl O atom as acceptor.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C5H6ClN2)[Cr(C2O4)2(H2O)2]·1.5H2O, the CrIII atom adopts a distorted octahedral geometry being coordinated by two O atoms of two cis water molecules and four O atoms from two chelating oxalate dianions. The cis-diaquadioxalatochromate(III) anions, 2-amino-5-chloropyridinium cations and uncoordinated water molecules are linked into a three-dimensional supramolecular array by O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions. One of the two independent lattice water molecules is situated on a twofold rotation axis.

Two new bimetallic complexes [Zn(phen)3][Fe(CN)5(NO)] · 2 H2O · 0.25 MeOH, (1) and [(bipy)2(H2O)Zn(μ-NC)Fe(CN)4(NO)] · 0.5 H2O, (2), have been isolated (where phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and bipy = bipyridyl) and characterised by X-ray crystallography [as the 2 H2O · 0.25 CH3OH solvate for (1) and hemihydrate for (2)] infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Substitution of phenanthroline for bipyridyl resulted in a cyano-bridged bimetallic species rather than two discrete mononuclear metal complexes. The bond angles of Fe-N-O were shown to be practically linear for both 1 [179.2(7)°] and 2 [178.3(3)°], and the Zn atoms have distorted octahedral geometry. The solvent molecules in both crystal lattices take part in forming hydrogen-bonded networks.

In the title mononuclear complex, [Co(C9H4N2O4)(H2O)5]·5H2O, the CoIIatom exhibits a distorted octahedral geometry involving an N atom of a 1H-benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylate ligand and five water O atoms. A supramolecular network is generated through intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions involving the coordinated and uncoordinated water molecules and the carboxyl O atoms of the organic ligand. An intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond is also observed.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Mn3{W(CN)8}2(C16H16N2)3(C3H7NO)3(CH3OH)3]·2H2O}n, consists of three [Mn(N,N-dimethylformamide)(methanol)(3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline)]2+cations, two [W(CN)8]3−anions and two water molecules. Each water molecule is disordered over three sets of sites, with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.310 (9):0.275 (9):0.415 (9) for one molecule and 0.335 (9):0.288 (9):0.377 (9) for the other molecule. The MnIIatoms exhibit a distorted octahedral geometry, while the WVatoms adopt a distorted square-antiprismatic geometry. The MnIIand WVatoms are linked alternatively through cyanide groups, forming a tetranuclear 12-atom rhombic metallacycle. Adjacent metallacycles are further connected by μ2-bridging cyanide anions, generating a 3,2-chain structure running parallel to [101]. Interchain π–π interactions are observed [centroid–centroid distances = 3.763 (3) and 3.620 (2) Å].

There are three independent CdII ions in the title complex, {[Cd3(C10H3O8)2(H2O)4]·4H2O} n , one of which is coordinated by four O atoms from three 5-carboxybenzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate ligands and by two water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. The second CdII ion is coordinated by five O atoms from four 5-carboxybenzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate ligands and by one water molecule also in a distorted octahedral geometry while the third CdII ion is coordinated by five O atoms from three 5-carboxybenzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate ligands and by one water molecule in a highly distorted octahedral geometry. The 5-carboxybenzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate ligands bridge the CdII ions, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional structure. Intra- and intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds are present throughout the three-dimensional structure.
