The new title one-dimensional CdII coordination polymer, [Cd(C10H10N2)2(μ1,3-N3)2] n , has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The asymmetric unit consists of a CdII ion, one azide and one 1-benzylimidazole (bzi) ligand. The CdII ion is located on an inversion centre and is surrounded in a distorted octahedral coordination sphere by six N atoms from four symmetry-related azide ligands and two symmetry-related bzi ligands. The CdII ions are linked by double azide bridging ligands within a μ1,3-N3 end-to-end (EE) coordination mode, leading to a one-dimensional linear structure extending parallel to [100]. The supramolecular framework is stabilized by the presence of weak C—H...N interactions, π–π stacking [centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.832 (2) Å] and C—H...π interactions between neighbouring chains.

A new one-dimensional NiIIcoordination polymer of 1,3,5-tris(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene, namelycatena-poly[[aqua(sulfato-κO)hemi(μ-ethane-1,2-diol-κ2O:O′)[μ3-1,3,5-tris(1H-imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene-κ3N3,N3′,N3′′]nickel(II)] ethane-1,2-diol monosolvate monohydrate], {[Ni(SO4)(C18H18N6)(C2H6O2)0.5(H2O)]·C2H6O2·H2O}n, was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The NiIIcation is coordinated by three N atoms of three different 1,3,5-tris(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene ligands, one O atom of an ethane-1,2-diol molecule, by a sulfate anion and a water molecule, forming a distorted octahedral NiN3O3coordination geometry. The tripodal 1,3,5-tris(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene ligands link the NiIIcations, generating metal–organic chains running along the [100] direction. Adjacent chains are further connected by O—H...O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a two-dimensional supermolecular architecture running parallel to the (001) plane. Another water molecule and a second ethane-1,2-diol molecule are non-coordinating and are linked to the coordinating sulfate ionsviaO—H...O hydrogen bonds.

Three coordination polymers [Sr(p-H2MOPhIDC)2]n (1) (p-H3MOPhIDC = 2-p-methoxyphenyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid), {[Cd2(p-HMOPhIDC)2(4,4′-bipy)]⋅H2O}n (4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) (2), and [Zn(p-HMOPhIDC)(4,4′-bipy)]n (3) have been solvothermally synthesized, and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Polymer 1 indicates a three-dimensional framework, which can be simplified as a 6-connected lattice. Polymer 2 is also a three-dimensional framework, and contains mixed bridging ligands HMOPhIDC2– and 4,4′-bipy. Polymer 3 exhibits a sheet structure bearing infinite rectangles. The coordination modes of the p-H3MOPhIDC ligand, and the thermal and solid-state photoluminescence properties of the polymers have been investigated as well.

A new tetrazole–metal supramolecular compound, di-μ-chlorido-bis(trichlorido{1-[(1H-tetrazol-5-yl-κN2)methyl]-1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane}cadmium(II)), [Cd2(C8H16N6)2Cl8], has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the structure, each CdIIcation is coordinated by five Cl atoms (two bridging and three terminal) and by one N atom from the 1-[(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methyl]-1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane ligand, adopting a slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The bridging bicyclo[2.2.2]octane and chloride ligands link the CdIIcations into one-dimensional ribbon-like N—H...Cl hydrogen-bonded chains along thebaxis. An extensive hydrogen-bonding network formed by N—H...Cl and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, and interchain π–π stacking interactions between adjacent tetrazole rings, consolidate the crystal packing, linking the poymeric chains into a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

catena-Poly[[[4-amino-N-(quinoxalin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamidato]aquacadmium(II)]-μ-4-amino-N-(quinoxalin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamidato], [Cd(C14H11N4O2S)2(H2O)], has been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, fluorescence, IR and thermal analysis. Single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that the complex is a one-dimensional zigzag chain structure, and the CdIIcation has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by five N atoms from three different sulfaquinoxaline ligands and one O atom from a water molecule. The fluorescence spectrum reveals that the complex emits strong blue fluorescence and thermal analysis shows that the complex has high thermal stability.

The complexes [Cd(cpbi)Cl2]·(H2O), [Hg2(cpbi)2Cl4] and [Hg(cpbi)Br2] (cpbi = [5-chloro-2-(pyrazin-2-yl)-1H-benzoimidazole]) have been synthesised using solvent evaporation reactions and structurally characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The first complex displays a one-dimensional (1-D) chain structure, the second has a binuclear structure, while the third is mononuclear. The complexes show different luminescence properties.

AbstractTwo coordination polymers, [Mn2(μ-O2PPh2)2(η1-O2PPh2)2(η1-HOCH3)2(μ-bpe)2·CH3OH]n (1) and [Mn2(μ-O2PPh2)4(μ-bpe)2]n (2), were assembled in single-pot reactions from [Mn(CH3COO)2·4H2O], Ph2P(O)OK and trans-1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe). The products were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed a one-dimensional metal-organic ladder type in 1 and a two-dimensional rectangular grid type in 2. Both 1 and 2 are constructed from six-coordinate Mn(II) nodes that adopt distorted octahedral (MnN4O2) environments; the adjacent nodes are connected by the μ-bpe linkers in 1 or μ-bpe and μ-O2PPh2 linkers in 2 to form different metal-organic networks. The catalytic property of complex 1 for selective thioether oxidation was also investigated in this work.

Schiff base–metal complexes have been used widely as catalysts for many organic reactions, such as ring-opening polymerization and oxidation. In view of the importance of CdIIcoordination polymers and in an effort to enlarge the library of such complexes, the title novel polymeric CdIItridentate Schiff base complex, [Cd3(C13H16BrN2O)2Cl4(CH4O)2]n, has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, UV and IR spectroscopies, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in the triclinicP\overline{1} space group with two symmetry-independent CdIIatoms, one of which lies on an inversion centre, and analysis of the crystal structure shows that both CdIIatoms are six-coordinated; the environment around one CdIIatom can be described as distorted octahedral, while that around the second CdIIatom is octahedral. The CdIIatoms are linked by chloride ligands to form a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The nonbonding intermolecular Cd...Cd distances are 3.7009 (4) and 4.3563 (5) Å. Furthermore, the photoluminescence properties of the complex have been investigated and it displays a strong red emission in the solid state at room temperature.

The title compound, {[Ni(C9H4O6)(C14H14N4)]·0.41H2O}n, exhibits a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded supramolecular framework. The NiIIcation is six-coordinated in a distorted triangular prism defined by two N atoms from two 1,3-bis(imidazol-l-ylmethyl)benzene (bix) ligands and four O atoms from two 5-carboxybenzene-1,3-dicarboxylate (HBTC) dianions. The bix molecules and HBTC dianions both act as bidentate ligands, linking the NiIIcations to form a one-dimensional coordination polymer. A two-dimensional wave-like net is constructed by O—H...O hydrogen bonds linking adjacent chains. Partially occupied solvent water molecules fill the cavities and link these layers to form a three-dimensional supramolecular structureviaO—H...O hydrogen bonds. The title compound was also characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis.

The bifunctional pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (H2pdc) ligand has one N atom and four O atoms, which could bind more than one AgI centre with diverse binding modes. A novel infinite one-dimensional AgI coordination polymer, namely catena-poly[[silver(I)-(μ2-pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylato-κ2 N:O 3)-silver(I)-tris(μ2-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiodiazol-2-amine-κ2 N:N′)] monohydrate ethanol monosolvate], {[Ag2(C7H3NO4)(C3H5N3S)3]·H2O·C2H5OH} n , has been synthesized using H2pdc and 5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine (tda), and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. One AgI atom is located in a four-coordinated AgN4 tetrahedral geometry and the other AgI atom is in a tetrahedral AgN3O geometry. A dinuclear AgI cluster formed by three tda ligands with a paddelwheel configuration is bridged by the dianionic pdc2− ligand into a one-dimensional coordination polymer. Interchain N—H...O hydrogen bonds extend the one-dimensional chains into an undulating two-dimensional sheet. The sheets are further packed into a three-dimensional supramolecular framework by interchain N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

<p>The novel coordination polymer, [Cd (NO<sub>3</sub>) (P-2) (pzca)]<sub>n</sub> (1); [P-2=pillar ligand = 4, 4'-bipyridine; pzca = 2-pyrazinecarboxylate] has been synthesized by the branched tube method under heat gradient condition and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis reveals that it forms an one-dimensional covalent ladder like structure by two different bridging ligands, 4, 4’-bipy and pzca, which further significantly extends into two-dimensional networks via hydrogen bonding and other weak interactions. This polymer consists of three parts: equatorial layers, the bpy ligands connect axially these layers as the pillar which result in coordination pillared-layer structure (CPL) and one dimensional pores. The application of compound 1 was studied as a sorbent for extraction of acetaminophen medicine. Acetaminophen was extracted by solid phase extraction method and monitored by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Furthermore, the remarkable thermal stability of compound 1 has also been studied by thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA).</p>
