Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a supplier selection model for an automobile company using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach. Supplier selection is now growing to be an important but complex issue, as it involves a large number of factors and decisions. These factors have complicated operational and financial implications. Design/methodology/approach – A case study of an Indian automobile company is used to illustrate and propose a supplier selection model using AHP approach. Findings – Key criteria of the supplier selection problem are identified based on the literature review and case study. Then, a model is proposed for supplier selection using AHP approach followed by a detailed sensitivity analysis. Practical implications – This paper contributes to supplier selection process, and points out the importance of supplier selection. It proposes a supplier selection model for an automobile industry which often faces heterogeneous supply environments. The proposed model provides key criteria for supplier selection in Indian context. This model may have high acceptability, where a large number of suppliers are available to supply the materials or provide the services. Originality/value – The proposed model can provide guidelines and directions for managers involved in purchasing function to effectively select suppliers on the basis of the identified criteria in the heterogeneous manufacturing environment.

The paper analyzes the problem of choosing an automatic control system for a road milling cutter for cold milling. The analysis of the ACS of the leading manufacturers was carried out, the typical structure of the ACS, the features of their functioning was determined, the necessity of building a selection model was substantiated, which would take into account the entire set of the main characteristics of the ACS of the road milling machine and make a scientifically grounded choice in conditions of uncertainty. The purpose of this work is to increase the efficiency of the use of cold milling cutters by developing a model for choosing an ACS for a road milling cutter under uncertainty. To achieve this goal, the most appropriate is the use of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (methodology) based on the decomposition of the choice problem using a hierarchical structural model. Economic criteria (cost of ACS, operating costs), technical criteria (accuracy, speed, adaptive speed control, engine control, alignment of the cutter, working out of small radii), operational criteria (reliability, diagnostics and registration, ease of installation and adjustment, external control, service) and ergonomic criteria (visualization of parameters, operator comfort) that characterize the ACS of a road milling machine. The originality consists in the construction, on the basis of these groups of criteria, of a hierarchical structural model for choosing an ACS for a road milling cutter, which makes it possible to implement an Analytic Hierarchy Process and choose a reasonable alternative. The practicalvalue lies in the fact that the use of the developed model will make it possible to carry out a scientifically grounded choice of the ACS of the road milling cutter, taking into account the entire set of economic, technical, operational and ergonomic groups of criteria. In the course of further research, the software implementation of the developed model will be carried out in the form of an expert system for choosing the ACS of a road milling machine.

Aiming at quantizing the selection of distribution mode in B2C e-commerce enterprises, distribution modes of B2C e-commerce enterprises were analyzed, the idea of the analytic hierarchy process was adopted to design the distribution selection model, GAHP was applied to calculate the weight of each criteria and gray correlation method was utilized to evaluate the superiority of each programs respectively for their different properties. Finally the most suitable distribution mode for B2C e-commerce enterprises can be selected.

The purpose of this paper was to illustrate how to select the target from the candidates in M&A. Based on synergy theory, this paper constructed the target enterprise selection model to evaluate and select the target enterprise in M&A; meanwhile, it introduced the process in details by Z Company’s practice. The new and original of this paper was to put the synergy theory and analytic hierarchy process into M&A practice.
