Abstract Positive linear continuous-time systems are analyzed via conformable fractional calculus. A solution to a fractional linear system is derived. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of linear systems are established. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of positive linear systems are also given. The solutions of positive fractional linear systems based on the Caputo and conformable definitions are compared.

A new method for computation of positive realizations of given transfer matrices of descriptor linear continuous-time linear systems is proposed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of positive realizations of transfer matrices are given. A procedure for computation of the positive realizations is proposed and illustrated by examples.

Abstract The Weierstrass–Kronecker theorem on the decomposition of the regular pencil is extended to fractional descriptor continuous-time linear systems described by the Caputo–Fabrizio derivative. A method for computing solutions of continuous-time systems is presented. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity and stability of these systems are established. The discussion is illustrated with a numerical example.

Abstract The positivity and absolute stability of a class of fractional nonlinear continuous-time and discrete-time systems are addressed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of this class of nonlinear systems are established. Sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of this class of fractional positive nonlinear systems are also given.

The problem ofH∞control performance analysis of continuous-time systems with random abrupt changes is concerned in this paper. By employing an augmented multiple mode-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and using some integral inequalities, new sufficient conditions are obtained relating to finite-time bounded and anH∞performance index. The finite-timeH∞control performance problem is solved and desired controller is given to ensure the system trajectory stays within a prescribed bound during a given time interval. At last, two numerical examples are provided to show that our results are less conservative than the existing ones.

The aim of this paper is to study the controllability of fractional systems involving the Atangana–Baleanu fractional derivative using the Caputo approach. In the first step, the solution of a linear fractional system is obtained. Then, based on the obtained solution, some necessary and sufficient conditions for the controllability of such a system will be presented. Afterwards, the controllability of a nonlinear fractional system will be analyzed, based on these results. Our tool for the presentation of the sufficient conditions of controllability in this part is Schauder fixed point theorem. In the last step, the analytical results are illustrated by numerical examples.
