This chapter shows how elements of gamification, i.e. game thinking and game mechanics, can be integrated into a collaborative navigation system for visually impaired persons in order encourage them to travel independently and thus improve their quality of life and self-confidence. The system supports independent navigation in unknown places by mediating help from another visually impaired person, who is familiar with the particular place. Our system utilizes a thermal user interface to introduce an additional communication channel and thus to increase the usability of the system. The system has been successfully enhanced by game elements and illustrates the potential of introducing game elements into these systems.

This paper proposes an effective device for visually impaired person in order to have betterment in their routine life. The spread of visually impairment is very sensitive issue worldwide. Here we develop a Smart system for visually impaired, that make use of ultrasonic sensor and camera. The most point of this work is to plan a voice-based cautioning framework for the outwardly impeded individuals. Visually impaired individual’s finds navigation difficult as they struggle every day in performing actions for bypassing obstacles and hurdles in their regular life. In order to help visually impaired people navigate safely and quickly this system is proposed. Ultrasonic sensor is set on the exhibition which is utilized for impediment location with separate sign. The camera is set to detect the object before the outwardly impeded individuals and alarm them utilizing APR voice module. This system prevents the visually impaired people accidents and identifies the object in front of them. The scope of the work is extracting the object’s image and processing them in the knowledge base and interpret the captured one. Assistive Innovation for individuals with outwardly disabilities is anticipated to develop at a quick pace and affect the lives of people having visual impedance and the elderly ways previously is not possible. KEY WORDS: SURF-Speedup Robust Feature, VPN- Visual Handling Unit, NCS-Neural Compute Adhere, APR-Apache Portable Runtime.

Navigation aid is important for the visually impaired person to travel safely. A white cane is normally used to detect obstacles in the persons path but it is limited in its detecting ability as it can only detect obstacles around the length of the cane and is unable to detect moving or overhanging objects. Many types of navigational aids are being developed using ultrasonic sensors to assist the visually impaired to detect obstacles and they are known as Electronic Travel Aids. This paper is focused on studying the influence of acoustical absorbing material on the obstacle detection angle of an ultrasonic sensor. Results showed that a tube lined with acoustical absorbing material attached to the sensor is able to narrow the detection angle for more precise obstacle detection.

In This Paper we present a real time domain obstacle detection system for the visually impaired persons to improve their mobility in daily life with the help of obstacle detection sensor installed in their walking stick .System is having a lower cost so it is easily purchasable so it can have a major significance in life of visually impaired persons. This Paper proposes a system to detect any object attached to the floor regardless to their height [1]. Obstacle on the floor in the front of user can be reliably detected in real time using the proposed system implemented by the IR sensor installed on the walk stick of the visually impaired person. Project also contains a navigation system for visually impaired persons to make the life of such persons easier up to some extent. This project is suited for the area where the possibility of blind person is high (like blind school, college)[6]. For transport facility of blind we have first decided the common bus roots of blind then we have placed RF tag to all those buses with unique code. At the second side we have placed RF reader, microcontroller and voice processor. The RF reader receive unique code, microcontroller process this code with defined code, if match found, voice processor get activated and starts speaking bus name, initial destination and final destination. The obstacle detection is also included in the project with voice. The system aims at increasing the mobility of visually impaired people by offering new sensing abilities.
