Abstract A new method of harvesting and curing breeder's seed peanuts in Virginia was initiated that would 1) reduce the labor requirements, 2) maintain a high level of germination, 3) maintain varietal purity at 100%, and 4) reduce the risk of frost damage. Three possible harvesting and curing methods were studied. The traditional stack-pole method satisfied the latter 3 objectives, but not the first. The windrow-combine method satisfied the first 2 objectives, but not the last 2. The direct harvesting method satisfied all four objectives. The experimental equipment and curing procedures for direct harvesting had been developed but not tested on a large scale for seed harvesting. This method has been used in Virginia to produce breeder's seed of 3 peanut varieties (Florigiant, VA 72R and VA 61R) during five years. Compared to the stackpole method, labor requirements have been reduced, satisfactory levels of germination and varietal purity have been obtained, and the risk of frost damage has been minimized.

Split air conditioning (AC) is the most widely used in the community for both commercial and domestic utilities. At the present refrigerant which used in Split AC is mostly common group of HFCs, such as R410a. R410a is a zeotropic refrigerant and if there is a leak in the system, it cannot be added this refrigerant. This will increase the cost of maintenance. The aims of this research is to investigate the retrofit of R410a with R32 on the Split AC system. The R32 is chosen because it has higher latent evaporation heat at the same temperature and has less effect on global warming. The refrigeration effect, the power consumption and the system performance are the main three quantities that want to be examined in this research which are observed before and after retrofit. Experimental investigation conducted during this research, including design and manufacture of experimental equipment, calibration and tools installment, collecting the experimental data and analysis by quantitative description method before and after retrofit. The results informed that cooling effect increased during the research, but the COP system has a slight decrease about 4%. R32 refrigerant is quite feasible as a retrofit refrigerant to R410a refrigerant.

The study of the spectra of flow is carried out by experimental methods. The paper summarizes the authors’ experience in the design, construction and use of hydrodynamic installations for the visualization of liquid or gas flow using hydrogen bubbles obtained by electrolysis of water. The design of a vertical hydrodynamic pipe, the technology of making experimental models, the design and purpose of the main equipment are considered. Research methods and procedures are described. The article presents the results of the studies that make it possible to evaluate the capabilities of the experimental equipment and picture physical processes around the bodies that change the kinematic parameters of motion in the incident flow according to a given law. The proposed research methods and experimental equipment are distinguished by originality. They can be used to study the features of macrostructures around bodies of complex geometric shapes and laws of motion.

Methods of extrusion are widely used in technology of thermoelectric (TE) materials manufacturing with high strength and good TE properties at temperatures above 200 K. The method of extrusion of Bi - Sb single crystals in the liquid environment under high hydrostatic pressure is considered. The construction of experimental equipment is presented. It was shown that presented method of extrusion allows preparing of polycrystalline material with high TE and improved strength properties at temperatures below 180 K.
