Background:For rheumatologists monitoring patients with various diseases and dealing with multiple scores with different maximum values (9 for RA-DAS, 6.4 for AS-DAS and 60 for PMR-AS) and values thresholds to characterize the different levels of disease activity (low, intermediate and high) can be a tedious task. The same problematic could arise in other specialty than rheumatology. Normalization of these scores seems to be necessary to facilitate daily clinical practice (1).Objectives:To indentify and standardize scores of activity of inflammatory diseases.Methods:We conducted a literature review on activity criteria using both a manual approach and the BIBOT software (2) published in English between 1.1.1975 and 31.12.2018. Within all extracted disease activity scores, we selected those with cut off values in four classes (remission, low, moderate and high disease activity). We used a linear interpolation to map all these disease activity scores to our new score, the AS-135, and developed a smart-phone application to perform the conversion automatically.Results:1068 articles were analyzed by BIBOT, 86 were excluded on the basis of the language used for their writing and 11 were excluded on the basis of their publication date. 599 were selected based on their titles, abstracts and keywords. 108 activity criteria from various fields (rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, neurology and pneumology) were identified, but it is in rheumatology that we find separation into four classes. 10 scores met our inclusion criteria and were implemented in the Android app. These are: DAS28 (ESR), DAS28 (CRP), SDAI, ASDAS (ESR), ASDAS (CRP), ESSDAI, SLEDAI-2K, DAPSA, PMR-AS (ESR) and PMR-AS (CRP). We built the AS135 score modification for each selected score using a linear interpolation of the existing criteria. It was defined on the interval [0,10] and values 1, 3 and 5 were used as thresholds. These arbitrary thresholds are then associated with the thresholds of the existing criteria and an interpolation can be calculated, allowing the conversion of the existing criteria into AS135 criterion. We have finally created a mobile application that allows each user to obtain both the original value of the activity criterion.Conclusion:We have created a mobile application that allows any user to obtain in a simple way the level of disease activity, whatever the criterion used to describe it, since the application returns, in addition to the value of the activity criterion calculated from data returned by the physician, the transformation of this value into AS135 criterion and its interpretation in terms of level of activity of the pathology. Low quality mobile applications have damaged the user experience. However, in light of the number of applications, quality analysis is a daunting task. For that reason, QDroid is proposed, an automated quality analyzer that detects the presence of crashes, excessive resource usage, and compatibility problems, without source codes and human involvement. QDroid was applied to 67 applications for evaluation and discovered 78% more crashes and attained 23% higher Activity coverage than Monkey testing. For detecting excessive resource usage and compatibility problems, QDroid reduced the number of applications that required manual review by up to 96% and 69%, respectively.

Purpose The purpose of this column is to examine the process for the transition of library computer labs into “thinking labs”, where existing library workstation space can be reallocated to provide more flexibility, freedom and creativity for the library patron. Design/methodology/approach Literature review and commentary on this topic that has been addressed by professionals, researchers and practitioners. Findings The transition of library computer labs into “thinking labs” is an initiative where library planners can experiment with ideas and concepts in library design to provide the most effective user experience through a “fresh perspective”. Originality/value The value in exploring this topic is to propose that library planners and designers create space unlike traditional designs to provide patrons with a more transformative thinking, learning and creative library experience.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbs are commonly regarded to be safe with minimal toxicities in Chinese communities. Cancer patients who are receiving Western oncology therapy often concurrently take TCM herbs for anticancer and symptom relief purposes. We performed a literature review for current evidence on TCM herb–induced liver injury from an oncological perspective. A literature search on PubMed was performed to identify publications regarding TCM herbs and concoctions with hepatoprotective or hepatotoxic properties. Lists of commonly used herbs and their causality levels were compiled. In view of the wide range of evidence available, cases assessed by the well-established RUCAM (Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method) algorithm were categorized as the highest level of evidence. More than one case of TCM herb–induced liver injury was confirmed by RUCAM in the following herbs and concoctions: Lu Cha ( Camellia sinensis), Bai Xian Pi ( Dictamnus dasycarpus), Tu San Qi ( Gynura segetum), Jin Bu Huan ( Lycopodium serratum), He Shou Wu ( Polygoni multiflora), Ge Gen ( Pueraria lobata), Dan Lu Tong Du tablet, Shou Wu Pian, Xiao Chai Hu Tang, Xiao Yin pill, and Yang Xue Sheng Fa capsule. Finally, TCM with anticancer or symptom relief uses were discussed in detail with regard to their hepatotoxic or hepatoprotective properties.

User experience is a key quality of mobile application design. It involves all aspects of human–computer interactions, and thus the optimisation of user experience is a multi-objective optimisation problem. User experience is subjective and uncertain; however, very little attention has been directed toward this issue when optimising user experience. In this article, a grey-fuzzy-based Taguchi approach is proposed to optimise user experience in mobile application design. Design analysis is first conducted to determine mobile design patterns and user experience characteristics. Next, a Taguchi experiment is executed, and then the signal-to-noise ratios are computed. After that, the signal-to-noise ratios are transformed into a multi-response performance index via a grey-fuzzy-based analysis. Finally, based on the multi-response performance index, the optimal design is achieved by using statistical analysis. A mobile health application design was employed to illustrate the proposed approach. The results indicate that this approach can effectively manage the subjectivity and uncertainty concerning user experience characteristics, and can be used as a general robust design approach for optimising user experience of mobile application design.
