In this pandemic circumstance, the Bangladesh government started distance learning using broadcasting and online classes. This is a comparative study exploring the impact of online classes on adolescent learning during COVID-19 lockdown in Bangladesh. The study conducts a telephonic interview with 10 headteachers of urban and rural government schools through a semi-structured questionnaire. The study uses descriptive and documentary methods for analysis. The study finds the limitations and challenges facing by the teachers and the students to attend online classes. However, online examinations and assignments are more impactful than online classes to engage students and practice lessons but not enough to compensate for the learning gaps. Even parents are not satisfied with these. Many parents admitted their children to madrasah, and many parents want to continue their children's education after reopening the schools.

The interpretation of the Qur’an as a source of Islamic teachings specifies the character of Islamic thought. The contextual interpretation that acknowledges various socio-cultural realities will generate moderate Islamic thought. This article aims to analyze the relationship between Tafsir al-Azhar by Hamka and Indonesian local wisdom. Tafsir al-Azhar has adopted Indonesian local wisdom as a source of interpretation. The data are derived from the book, Tafsir al-Azhar by Hamka. It describes the forms of local wisdom employed by Hamka as a source of interpretation and maps the implications for moderate Islamic thought in Indonesia. The result of the study shows that the local wisdoms of the archipelago used as a source of interpretation in Tafsir al-Azhar are local community beliefs, community wisdom in dealing with opponents, and community practices on children's education. These local wisdoms are the manifestation of the interpreter’s positive attitude, respecting the noble values of the local community. Respect on the values of local community wisdom is an important finding regarding the contextuality of Qur’an interpretation. The values resulted from the Qur’an interpretation are not coercive but are transferred to society through dialogue, so they reach harmony and peace. Future researches can examine the readers’ response or reception towards Tafsir al-Azhar so that its function to build moderate society can be comprehensively traced. Tafsir al-Qur’an sebagai sumber ajaran Islam menentukan karakter pemikiran Islam. This essay suggests examining “ordinary,” segregated Black schools from the past helps explain persistent issues in Black education at present. To demonstrate this point, the essay focuses on the shortcomings of philanthropy in education from the 1920s to the present day in Wilmington, Delaware. It asserts for Black education to thrive, a combination of adequate resources and Black control over those resources is necessary. Utilizing School No. 5, a school heretofore undocumented in scholarship, as one specific case, the authors show how this elementary school was initially overlooked by white philanthropy, only to be pervaded with it decades later. Centrally, the authors argue in both instances, whites’ actions, either by oversight or interference, hindered the holistic quality of Black children’s education; these persistent impediments to Black education, however, transpired alongside the valiant efforts and self-determination of Black educators and Wilmington’s Black community.

The crisis has highlighted flaws in educational programs while also providing opportunities to reshape schooling. Climate change, technological disruptions, and globalized communication are all increasing the likelihood of such crises. These issues have given rise to doubts and debates regarding the dilution of the educational systems and dubiousness being felt by the parents regarding the same. As a result of the transition of homes into classrooms, parental engagement and parental involvement have emerged as major influencing factors of online education. As parents are the major stakeholders in the online educational format. They have always played an important role in their children's education. However, in the aftermath of the pandemic, the parent's position has shifted dramatically. Parents now bear a significant amount of responsibility for their children's education. This has given rise to conflicting emotions in the parents regarding the dilution of the education system and more importantly the onus of child’s education shifting to the parents thereby reducing the responsibility of the schools and teachers. Often parents have been heard expressing their resentment at the reconfigured roles and responsibilities caused by the shift. This study aims to explain the importance of children's education in preventing ignorance. This study used a qualitative approach. As for the subjects of this research are Indonesian children who are in Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta school. This research was conducted online considering the Covid-19 pandemic is still engulfing Indonesia, so face-to-face via zoom and direct interviews were conducted.  The data analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative.  The results show that early childhood education is very important to prevent stupidity because children need to be given insight and understanding about the world of children. So that they are able to face their lives appropriately and are not affected by the currents of social life. Thus, this study showed that educational failures could result in ignorance for Indonesian children. The emergence of mass ignorance, of course, did not happen suddenly, but there was a cause to it. Experts stated that the mass ignorance is due to the lack of education, the lack of knowledge about science and technology and the laziness of some children. Therefore, the mass ignorance in children's education should be erased by giving necessary education to advance their thinking. Also, children's education must be positioned as the target of all educational endeavors because education aims to inculcate all aspects and values of a good life to prevent and reduce mass ignorance in Indonesia.
