This paper takes the-stable distribution as the noise model and works on the parameter estimation problem of bistatic Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar system in the impulsive noise environment. This paper presents a signal model and a novel method for parameter estimation in bistatic MIMO radar system in the impulsive noise environment. Firstly, a signal array model is constructed based on the-stable distribution model. Secondly, Doppler parameters are jointly estimated by searching the optimal rotation angle to meet concentrated-energy of the FLOS-FC. Furthermore, two algorithms are presented for the estimation of DODs and DOAs, including based on FLOS-MUSIC algorithm and FLOS-ESPRIT algorithm. Simulation results are presented to verity the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Joint DOA-range-polarization estimation with a novel radar system, i.e., spatially separated polarization sensitive random frequency diverse array based on multiple-input multiple-output (SS-PSRFDA-MIMO) radar, is discussed. The proposed array can obtain not only unambiguous range estimation but also polarization parameter estimation. Firstly, the signal model of SS-PSRFDA-MIMO radar is constructed. Secondly, dimension reduction multiple signal classification (DR-MUSIC) algorithm is extended to parameter estimation with the proposed array. Last, simulations demonstrate the proposed algorithm is effective to estimate parameter, and the performance of proposed array is better than that of polarization sensitive frequency diverse array based on MIMO radar. It is worth mentioning that the Cramér–Rao lower bound (CRLB) of range estimation with the proposed array is much lower than that of PSFDA-MIMO radar.

A low complexity monostatic cross multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) radar scheme is proposed in this paper. The minimum-redundancy linear array (MRLA) is introduced in the cross radar to improve the efficiency of the array elements. The two-dimensional direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation problem links to the trilinear model, which automatically pairs the estimated two-dimensional angles, requiring neither eigenvalue decomposition of received signal covariance matrix nor spectral peak searching. The proposed scheme performs better than the uniform linear arrays (ULA) configuration under the same conditions, and the proposed algorithm has less computational complexity than that of multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. Simulation results show the effectiveness of our scheme.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for massive multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar, and propose a total array-based multiple signals classification (TA-MUSIC) algorithm for two-dimensional direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation with a coprime cubic array (CCA). Unlike the conventional multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm, the TA-MUSIC algorithm employs not only the auto-covariance matrix but also the mutual covariance matrix by stacking the received signals of two sub cubic arrays so that full degrees of freedom (DOFs) can be utilized. We verified that the phase ambiguity problem can be eliminated by employing the coprime property. Moreover, to achieve lower complexity, we explored the estimation of signal parameters via the rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT)-based multiple signal classification (E-MUSIC) algorithm, which uses a successive scheme to be computationally efficient. The Cramer–Rao bound (CRB) was taken as a theoretical benchmark for the lower boundary of the unbiased estimate. Finally, numerical simulations were conducted in order to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithms.

Larger array aperture is provided by sparse arrays than uniform ones, which can improve the angle estimation resolution and reduce the cost of system evidently. However, manifold ambiguity is introduced due to the array sparsity. In this paper, a Power Estimation Multiple-Signal Classification (PE-MUSIC) algorithm is proposed to solve the manifold ambiguity of arbitrary sparse arrays for uncorrelated sources in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar. First, the paired direction of departure (DOD) and direction of arrival (DOA) are obtained for all targets by MUSIC algorithm, including the true and spurious ones; then, the well-known Davidon–Fletcher–Powell (DFP) algorithm is applied to estimate all targets’ power values, among which the value of a spurious target trends to zero. Therefore, the ambiguity of sparse array in MIMO radar can be cleared. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.

AbstractAiming at the problems of low degree of freedom, small array aperture, and phase ambiguity in traditional coprime array direction-of-arrival estimation methods, a non-circular signal DOA estimation method based on expanded coprime array MIMO radar is proposed. Firstly, this method combines the coprime array and the MIMO radar to form transmitter and receiver array. Secondly, the array is expanded using the non-circular signal characteristics to reconstruct the received signal matrix. Then the dimensionality reduction is performed. The two-dimensional spectral peak search is converted into an optimization problem, and the optimization of the two-dimensional MUSIC algorithm is reconstructed using constraints, and a cost function is constructed to solve the problem. In addition, use the power series of the noise eigenvalues to correct the noise subspace to further improve the accuracy of the algorithm. Finally, the problem of no phase ambiguity in the method in this article is derived. Simulation experiments show that the method in this article can effectively avoid phase ambiguity, greatly improve the degree of freedom, and expand the array aperture. Compared with the traditional MUSIC algorithm and the mutual prime array MUSIC algorithm, it has better resolution and DOA estimation accuracy.
