We consider the problem of query execution when there is limited access to the relations, i.e. when binding patterns require values to be specified in order to get data from the relation. This problem is common in virtual data integration systems where there are heterogeneous sources with various restricted access patterns and query capabilities. Another problem is the lack of the statistical information about the sources and occurrence of unpredictable events. We introduce two mobile join operators, MDJoin and SMDJoin which are designed for restricted sources and implemented using 'mobile agents' in order to benefit from their autonomous and reactive characteristics. Mobile operators of restricted sources are capable to deal with restricted sources and react to the variations between the compile-time estimations and run-time computations of data during query execution. The difference between the two new query operators lies in their level of adaptation ability to the execution environment. Performance results show that mobile agent-based approach at operator level can lead to a significant reduction in response time with restricted sources.

In distributed settings, such as that of the World Wide Web, where a large number of information sources and services reside, portals provide a single point of global access via a single and unified view. This view is circumscribed by a specific conceptualization and a specific vocabulary whose entries provide lexicalizations of the concepts used for shaping information, data, and services provided. Ontologies play a key role to shaping information, as they provide conceptualizations of domains. Different portals may use different or partially overlapping ontologies for shaping information, or even different schemata for storing data. This affects the integration of information from different portals, and the interoperability between the services that portals provide. Consequently, this situation affects recall and precision of information retrieval, and sets limitations to the composition (and decomposition) of services among portals for serving clients’ (users or software agents) requests

The service-orientated computing paradigm is transforming traditional workflow management from a close, centralized control system into a worldwide dynamic business process. This paper presents an agent-based Web service model to support inter-enterprise workflow management. In the proposed model, agent-based technology provides the workflow coordination at both inter-and intra-enterprise levels while Web services based technology provides infrastructures for messaging, service description and workflow enactment. Coordination agents and resource agents negotiate through a bidding mechanism for constructing dynamic workflow process between business partners. The agent system architecture, coordination model and related components are described. A prototype system is implemented for simulating the formation process of virtual enterprises. Our current approach integrating agents and Web services mainly focuses on communication and interaction. Our ongoing work is focusing on semantic integration in composing a dynamic workflow for inter-enterprise cooperation.

Objective statistical information allows to provide the effective performance of government acts on migration, evaluate their consequence and results, and compare migration follows in different regions of the world. In international standards there is no unique comments and recommendations on information sources of statistical indicators about employment, unemployment, economic activeness and territorial movement of population. Observation of households is the most flexible method of collection of all information.
