The Use of Fabric Filters in Air Pollution Control

Author(s):
T. J. Brennan

One of the classic and highly efficient forms of industrial air filtration for particulate dust control is fabric filter baghouse. First used in the 1870–1880’s, they have developed into one of the most versatile, high performance air pollution control devices. These units are now capable of efficiencies in the range of 99.9% on particulate as small as 0.20 of a micron in size. I would like to take just a few moments and trace the evolution of the fabric filter baghouse from its inception to its position today. Paper published with permission.
