Faceless identification: a model for person identification using the 3D shape and 3D motion as cues

The simultaneous recovery of three-dimensional (3D) structure from motion (SfM) for the sequences of images, is one of the more difficult problems in computer vision. Classical approaches to the problem rely on using algebraic techniques to solve for these unknowns given two or more image. Motion analysis and 3D shape estimation based on the estimated motion is an important problem in computer vision. The correspondence problem is an important tool in SfM where in this paper a general 3D motion based on a simple rotation, tilt, roll and translation is proposed, and then is used for 3D shape estimation. The current work expands the 2D motion estimation (shift, rotation) to accommodate general 3D motion (shift, rotation, tilt and roll). The proposed work in this paper of motion estimation of moving object is based on Fourier Descriptor Transformation (FDT) analysis before and after motion. The FDT is also used to resolve the correspondence problem in a sequence of images. We test our method on several large-scale photo collections, show the efficacy of the introduced approach to improve reconstruction accuracy.

Despite the potential of the technique, electron tomography has yet to be widely used by biologists. This is in part related to the rather daunting list of equipment and expertise that are required. Thanks to continuing advances in theory and instrumentation, tomography is now more feasible for the non-specialist. One barrier that has essentially disappeared is the expense of computational resources. In view of this progress, it is time to give more attention to practical issues that need to be considered when embarking on a tomographic project. The following recommendations and comments are derived from experience gained during two long-term collaborative projects.Tomographic reconstruction results in a three dimensional description of an individual EM specimen, most commonly a section, and is therefore applicable to problems in which ultrastructural details within the thickness of the specimen are obscured in single micrographs. Information that can be recovered using tomography includes the 3D shape of particles, and the arrangement and dispostion of overlapping fibrous and membranous structures.

In the modern world, human recognition systems play an important role to   improve security by reducing chances of evasion. Human ear is used for person identification .In the Empirical study on research on human ear, 10000 images are taken to find the uniqueness of the ear. Ear based system is one of the few biometric systems which can provides stable characteristics over the age. In this paper, ear images are taken from mathematical analysis of images (AMI) ear data base and the analysis is done on ear pattern recognition based on the Expectation maximization algorithm and k means algorithm.  Pattern of ears affected with different types of noises are recognized based on Principle component analysis (PCA) algorithm.

AbstractRecent epidemiological analyses in fencing have shown that injuries and pain linked specifically to fencing training/competition were evident in 92.8% of fencers. Specifically the prevalence of Achilles tendon pathology has increased substantially in recent years, and males have been identified as being at greater risk of Achilles tendon injury compared to their female counterparts. This study aimed to examine gender differences in Achilles tendon loading during the fencing lunge.Achilles tendon load was obtained from eight male and eight female club level epee fencers using a 3D motion capture system and force platform information as they completed simulated lunges. Independent t-tests were performed on the data to determine whether differences existed.The results show that males were associated with significantly greater Achilles tendon loading rates in comparison to females.This suggests that male fencers may be at greater risk from Achilles tendon pathology as a function of fencing training/ competition.
