ABSTRACT A novel human papillomavirus genotype was detected in a cervical swab specimen by next-generation sequencing after rolling circular amplification. It was fully cloned and characterized. The L1 open reading frame showed 77% nucleotide similarity with the closest genotype, HPV101, belonging to the gamma-6 species.

ABSTRACT A novel human papillomavirus (HPV ICB1) was fully characterized from a skin swab by using a sensitive degenerate PCR protocol combined with next-generation sequencing. The L1 open reading frame of HPV ICB1 shares 70.54% nucleotide homology with its closest relative, HPV164, and thus constitutes a novel human gammapapillomavirus.

ABSTRACT We report the genetic characterization of a new papillomavirus (HPV_MTS1) isolated and fully cloned from a skin swab. The L1 open reading frame of HPV_MTS1 was 85% identical to its closest human papillomavirus (HPV) type 80, which belongs to the species beta-2 of the genus Betapapillomavirus, hence qualifying it as a new HPV type.

ABSTRACT The genus Lyssavirus includes rabies virus as well as multiple diverse and recently described novel species. Using next-generation sequencing technologies, we have obtained the whole-genome sequence of Matlo bat lyssavirus, which was isolated from a Natal long-fingered bat (Miniopterus natalensis) in South Africa.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of the human coronavirus NL63 CN0601/14 strain, first isolated from South Korea. It contains 18-nucleotide discontinuous deletions of the open reading frame 1a (ORF1a) and spike regions. This study will aid in our understanding of the complete genome sequences of isolated coronaviruses in South Korea.

ABSTRACT A new recombinant norovirus, GII.P16-GII.2, emerged in the winter of 2016-2017. Here, we report the complete genome of this strain (Hu/GII/HK/2016/GII.P16-GII.2/CUHK-NS-1082), which was collected from a patient hospitalized with gastroenteritis in September 2016 in Hong Kong, China, and sequenced using next-generation sequencing. This genome had a 95.2% nucleotide identity to the closest sequence in GenBank.

ABSTRACT We report here the complete genome sequence of a peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) from the first outbreak of the disease in Georgia in January 2016. Genome sequencing was performed using Illumina next-generation sequencing technology in conjunction with Sanger sequencing. This PPRV/Georgia/Tbilisi/2016 genome sequence clustered within lineage IV PPRV viruses.

We report here the first complete genome sequence of Ornithogalum mosaic virus (OrMV) isolated from Taean, South Korea, in 2011, which was obtained by next-generation sequencing and Sanger sequencing. The sequence information provided here may serve as a potential reference for other OrMV isolates.
