AbstractA new method for synthesis of perylene-3,4-dicarboximides (PDCIs) is reported. Modified from a literature reported synthetic method, microwave assisted heating was used to perform the reaction, which not only shortened the original reaction time, from 18 hours to 30 min, but also increased the corresponding reaction yield. A variety of PDCI derivatives were synthesized in order to correlate the influence of substituents on the reaction outcome. Moreover, the photophysical and electrochemical properties of PDCIs are characterized and reported.

Synthesis of alkoxy derivatives of closo-decaborate anion [1- and 2-B10H9OR]2- by reaction of the hydroxy derivatives with corresponding alkyl bromides was described. A new method of synthesis of 2-hydroxy derivative of closo-decaborate anion [2-B10H9OH]2- was proposed.

Using cotton as raw material we have synthesized CMC-Li. A new method to modify electrode materials with CMC-Li by electrospinning was developed, and CMC-Li was used as a novel lithium-ion binder in batteries. The batteries show good electrochemical properties, excellent stability and are environmentally friendly.

Investigations which require electron microscope examination of a few specific areas of non-homogeneous tissues make random sampling of small blocks an inefficient and unrewarding procedure. Therefore, several investigators have devised methods which allow obtaining sample blocks for electron microscopy from region of tissue previously identified by light microscopy of present here techniques which make possible: 1) sampling tissue for electron microscopy from selected areas previously identified by light microscopy of relatively large pieces of tissue; 2) dehydration and embedding large numbers of individually identified blocks while keeping each one separate; 3) a new method of maintaining specific orientation of blocks during embedding; 4) special light microscopic staining or fluorescent procedures and electron microscopy on immediately adjacent small areas of tissue.
