In the eastern part of the Barents Sea, there are 3 types of settlements of the bivalve mollusk Macoma calcarea. At low positive temperatures (from 0.6 to 1.3 оC),juveniles predominate on sandy-silty soils in settlements with low biomass, uneven growth and high mortality. In colder water masses (–0.4...–1.5 оC), M. calcareasettlements consist of long-lived, evenly growing large individuals that form high biomass values. In the settlement of group I, there was an increased elimination of certain size classes. The distribution of settlements depends little on the depth and salinity.

During 2015–2106 the macrozoobenthos under the clam farm located in the area of Sevastopol was investigated. The aim of the study is to consider species composition, density and biomass of macrozoobenthos in the area of the clam farm. The samples were taken using standard benthic techniques. Relatively low species diversity was observed, with 56 species of macrozoobenthos identified. The density was 500–975 ind. per m², the biomass varied from 0.8 to 381.1 g·m-2. The community of the bivalve mollusk Lucinella divaricata (Linnaeus, 1758) was found. Trophic structure of the community with high quantity of detritus feeders dominated by small polychaetes was determined. The dominating, typical and rare species were identified. Comparison with the data obtained in 1957 in Evpatoriya – Sevastopol area at the same depths and sediments was made.

A new species of bivalve mollusk dwelling palaemonid shrimp of the genus Odontonia is described from the Berau Islands, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This is the only Odontonia species recorded as a symbiont of a bivalve mollusk, all other congeners are known to associate with solitary ascidians. The new species belongs to the group wherein the dactylus of the ambulatory pereiopods has an accessory tooth. It differs from these species in the absence of a forward directed proximal tooth on the flexor margin of the corpus of the ambulatory dactyli. It also lacks the small denticles posterior to the distoventral accessory tooth on the dactylar corpus.
