Preparative synthesis of dinucleoside monophosphates, catalyzed by ribonuclease A, is described. Uridine 2',3' -cyclic phosphate was used as a donor, the acceptors being uridine (Ia), N3-methyl-uridine (Ib), 5-methyluridine (Ic), 6-methyluridine (Id), 3-(β-D-ribofuranosyl)uracil (IIa), 1-methyl-3-(β-D-ribofuranosyl)uracil (IIb), 6-azauridine (III) and 6-methyl-2'-deoxyuridine (IV). The obtained compounds of the type UpN (where N is the nucleoside moiety I-IV) were characterized by paper chromatography, electrophoresis and UV-spectra.

SummaryThe investigations were carried out with a newly syn-thesised, original 99mTc-Unithiol complex (Unithiol-2,3-dimercaptopropansulphonate). It accumulates in the kidneys and enables their scintigraphic examination at 90—180 minutes after the administration. The study was performed on rats, rabbits and dogs. 99mTc-Unithiol complex accumulation in rat kidneys was 34,9%, 44,5% and 67,8% of dose after 1, 2 and 3 h respectively.Good reability of the scintigraphic picture of the kidneys in rabbits and dogs confirms the accumulative capability of the complex in these organs. It was found by means of ascending paper chromatography that the purity of the 99mTc-Unithiol complex exceeded 90%.

ABSTRACT Unconjugated corticosteroids are extracted from normal human urine and the urine of patients with rheumatic disorders treated with synthetic corticosteroids and corticotrophin. A simple and specific method using paper chromatography has been developed to detect the unconjugated cortisol in urine.

ABSTRACT Perfusion of rat liver with vanillic acid yielded only one metabolite. In paper chromatography with three different solvent systems, the substance showed the same RF-values as vanillyolglycine (3-methoxy-4-hydroxyhippuric acid) and in mixed chromatograms there was only one single spot. After separation by column chromatography, the UV- and IRspectra of the reaction product were identical with those of 3-methoxy4-hydroxy-hippuric acid. During the perfusion experiment, the kinetics of the conjugation were investigated.

ABSTRACT Rat and bovine brain have been incubated with testosterone-4-14C under standard conditions. With use of paper chromatography, the extracted metabolites were noted to fall into less-polar, iso-polar, and more polar fractions. The components of the less-polar fraction were separated by acetylation and thin-layer chromatography and the major end-products identified by recrystallization to constant specific activity or constant 3H/14C ratios. Androst-4-enedione and 5α-dihydrotestosterone were formed consistently under the conditions utilized. Trace amounts of other less-polar metabolites were noted occasionally.
