Abstract. Researchers have explored the benefits and applications of modern artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in different scenario. For the processing of geomatics data, AI offers overwhelming opportunities. Fundamental questions include how AI can be specifically applied to or must be specifically created for geomatics data. This change is also having a significant impact on geospatial data. The integration of AI approaches in geomatics has developed into the concept of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), which is a new paradigm for geographic knowledge discovery and beyond. However, little systematic work currently exists on how researchers have applied AI for geospatial domains. Hence, this contribution outlines AI-based techniques for analysing and interpreting complex geomatics data. Our analysis has covered several gaps, for instance defining relationships between AI-based approaches and geomatics data. First, technologies and tools used for data acquisition are outlined, with a particular focus on RGB images, thermal images, 3D point clouds, trajectories, and hyperspectral/multispectral images. Then, how AI approaches have been exploited for the interpretation of geomatic data is explained. Finally, a broad set of examples of applications are given, together with the specific method applied. Limitations point towards unexplored areas for future investigations, serving as useful guidelines for future research directions.

The wide application of intelligent manufacturing technologies imposes higher requirements for the quality inspection of industrial products; however, the existing industrial product quality inspection methods generally have a few shortcomings such as requiring many inspectors, too complicated methods, difficulty in realizing standardized monitoring, and the low inspection efficiency, etc. Targeting at these problems, this paper proposed an automatic detection and online quality inspection method for workpiece surface cracks based on the machine vision technology. At first, it proposed a vision-field environment calibration method, gave the specific method for workpiece shape feature recognition and size measurement based on machine vision, and achieved the on-line monitoring of workpiece quality problems such as feature defects and size deviations. Then, this study integrated the multi-scale attention module and the up-sampling module that can restore the locations of image pixels based on the high-level and low-level hybrid feature maps, built a workpiece crack extraction network, and realized workpiece crack feature extraction, crack type classification, and damage degree division. At last, experimental results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method, and this paper provided a reference for the application of machine vision technology in other fields.

It is well known that the appearance of the delay in the fractional delay differential equation (FDDE) makes the convergence analysis very difficult. Dealing with the problem with the traditional reproducing kernel method (RKM) is very tricky. The feature of this paper is to gain a more credible approximate solution via fractional Taylor’s series (FTS). We use the FTS to deal with the delay for improving the accuracy of the approximate solutions. Compared with other methods, the five numerical examples demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method in this paper.

With the increase of power transaction business, traditional power transaction data interaction models cannot fully meet the needs of data interaction. The data model conforming to the power transaction data architecture plays an important role. Data interaction requirements of Chinese electricity market transaction business are analyzed, and the specific method of power transaction data description is given in the IEC-61970 protocol standard. Also a common information model (CIM) for electricity trans-action data interaction is built that conforms to the data interaction architecture. Finally the functional description of the model is built adopting the unified modeling language (UML). Compared with the existing electricity transaction data interaction model, the method is beneficial to reduce the degree of data redundancy, increase the speed of data interaction, and thus improve the transaction efficiency of the electricity market.

Objective. The aim of the present study was to report the physiological stimulation of the synthesis of preelastic fibers in the dermis of a patient with fibrosis. Design. A clinical study was conducted involving the analysis of histological changes in preelastic fibers following treatment for stage II primary lymphedema for the clinical reversal of lymphedema and fibrosis. Setting. University Hospital of the São Jose do Rio Preto of School of Medicine in 2020. Participant was a 67-year-old male patient with late-onset primary lymphedema diagnosed 12 years earlier. Intervention is the lymphatic stimulation using the Godoy method adapted to the treatment of fibrosis. Main outcomes and measures are biopsies before and after treatment. Ten randomly selected histological fields were evaluated using the multipoint morphometric method. The values with this method are relative and expressed as percentages. Statistical analysis was performed with the t-test, considering a 95% significance level. Results. A visible, significant difference in the percentage of preelastic fibers was found between the preintervention and postintervention slides, which were confirmed by the microscopic evaluation and quantification (4.95 ± 0.64% and 14.70 ± 1.06%, respectively). Conclusion. The physiological stimulation of the lymphatic system using a specific method resulted in the clinical reduction of fibrosis, the return of the elasticity of the skin, and the stimulation of the synthesis of preelastic fibers.

Narrating history is perpetually contested, shaping and reshaping how nations and people understand both their pasts and the current moment. Measuring and evaluating the scope of histories is methodologically challenging. In this paper we provide a general approach and a specific method to measure historical recall. Operationalizing historical information as one or more word phrases, we use the phrase-mining RAKE algorithm on a collection of primary historical documents to extract first-person historical evidence, and then measure recall via phrases present on contemporary Wikipedia, taken to represent a publicly-accessible summary of existing knowledge on virtually any historical topic. We demonstrate this method using women's movements in the United States as a case study of a debated historical field. We found that issues important to working-class elements of the movement were less likely to be covered on Wikipedia compared to other subsections of the movement. Combining this method with a qualitative analysis of select articles, we identified a typology of mechanisms leading to historical omissions: paucity, restrictive paradigms, and categorical narrowness. Our approach, we conclude, can be used to both evaluate the recall of a body of history and to actively intervene in enlarging the scope of our histories and historical knowledge.

Today, knowledge of foreign languages is required to avoid barriers to communication between people around the world. Thus, learning foreign languages is relevant at almost any age.The purpose of this article is to consider the generally accepted methods and determine the effectiveness of each of them during training. To achieve fluency in a foreign language, it is necessary to divide foreign language communicative competence into a number of components and develop them both individually and in combination. Each of the models is a separate and independent method that can be used to improve certain components of foreign language communicative competence. The main components include: the development of speech, writing, reading, and the study of vocabulary. There is no single approach in the scientific literature to determine the structure of foreign language communicative competence, as the general form of this competence can be presented in a set of components such as linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic competence. Therefore, it is not possible to dwell on a specific method as ideal for the formation of competence, as each of them has its disadvantages and advantages. The formation of foreign language communicative competence requires a long and careful study of the material offered by a teacher who uses a certain method.

The present study reports a specific method for preparation of silver-modified anodic alumina substrates intended for biomaterial applications. Al2O3 coatings were obtained by anodization of technically pure aluminum alloy in sulfuric acid electrolyte. Silver deposition into the pores of the anodic structures was carried out employing in situ thermal reduction for different time periods. The obtained coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), potentiodynamic scanning after 168 h in 3.5% NaCl solution and bioassays with human fibroblast and NIH/3T3 cell lines. The modified alumina substrates demonstrated better biocompatibility compared to the control anodic Al2O3 pads indicated by increased percent cell survival following in vitro culture with human and mouse fibroblasts. The Ag-deposition time did not affect considerably the biocompatibility of the investigated anodic layers. SEM analyses indicated that mouse NIH/3T3 cells and human fibroblasts adhere to the silver-coated alumina substrates retaining normal morphology and ability to form cell monolayer. Therefore, the present studies demonstrate that silver coating of anodic alumina substrates improves their biocompatibility and their eventual biomedical application.

Colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) inhibition has been proposed as a specific method for microglia depletion. However, recent work revealed that in addition to microglia, CSF1R inhibition also affects other innate immune cells, such as peripheral monocytes and tissue-resident macrophages of the lung, liver, spleen, and peritoneum. Here, we show that this effect is not restricted to innate immune cells only, but extends to the adaptive immune compartment. CSF1R inhibition alters the transcriptional profile of bone marrow cells that control T helper cell activation. In vivo or ex vivo inhibition of CSF1R profoundly changes the transcriptional profile of CD4+ cells and suppresses Th1 and Th2 differentiation in directionally stimulated and unstimulated cells and independently of microglia depletion. Given that T cells also contribute in CNS pathology, these effects may have practical implications in the interpretation of relevant experimental data.

The circular economy (CE) is about a system-level change towards sustainability, and it aims at keeping products, components, and materials at their highest utility and value at all times, covering both technical and biological cycles. This study aimed at exploring, discovering, describing, and synthesizing the characteristics of CE development in the construction sector in Japan based on the perspectives of sectoral organizations and focusing on the following themes: (1) sustainable production; (2) sustainable consumption; (3) creation and maintenance of value in a CE; (4) CE innovations; (5) CE of material and energy use; (6) technological, economic, and social barriers to CE; (7) CE guidance; and (8) specific CE aspects in the construction sector. This study applied a qualitative research approach, including a questionnaire survey as the specific method. This study addressed a gap in the research and helps to improve understanding of the CE development priorities based on the perspectives of organizations operating in or related to the construction sector in Japan. The findings indicate that the priority CE development focus areas in the construction sector in Japan encompass, for example, the use of sustainable and renewable raw materials; consumer awareness; and the design, use, and manufacturing of sustainable, recyclable, reusable, and repairable products, components, and materials. The barriers to CE that need to be overcome encompass, for example, the lack of general knowledge about circular economy opportunities and of seeing the “big picture” as well as issues related to economic benefits and the development of CE and sustainability-oriented products, components, and materials. Particularly important CE aspects in the construction sector include the maintenance of existing buildings; sustainability and the long-life cycles of products, components, and materials; CE-oriented product design; and sustainability criteria and cooperation between parties covering the whole life cycle of construction.
