A new nematode species, Capillaria margolisi sp.nov., is described from the pyloric caeca of cabezon, Scorpaenichthys marmoratus (family Cottidae), from the west coast of Canada (Vancouver Island). It can be distinguished from other congeneric species possessing a spiny spicular sheath mainly by the short spicule (0.2 mm) and by the presence of two large sublateral lobes on the male tail. This species differs from all other members of Capillaria from fishes, except C. gracile and C. rhinobati, in having a bell-shaped vulvar appendage in the female.
