AbstractWe investigate the positivity of double parton distributions with a non-trivial dependence on the parton colour. It turns out that positivity is not preserved by leading-order evolution from lower to higher scales, in contrast to the case in which parton colour is summed over. We also study the positivity properties of the distributions at small distance between the two partons, where they can be computed in terms of perturbative splitting kernels and ordinary parton densities.

Production rates of large pT jets inpp collisions at RHIC and LHC energies are studied using the next-to-leading order calculation of S.D. Ellis, Z. Kunszt and D. Soper. The computed inclusive one-jet cross sections are compared against the CERN and Fermilab jet data from [Formula: see text] and pp collisions. The dependence of the results on the choice of parton distributions and renormalization/factorization scales is investigated.

In this talk, we introduce two sets of twist-3 quark-gluon correlation functions that are relevant to transverse single spin asymmetries, and present corresponding evolution equations at the leading order in strong coupling constant, αs. The similarities and differences between the evolution of the leading power parton distributions and that of the twist-3 multiparton correlation functions are also discussed.

Next-to-leading order QCD corrections, order 1 GeV mass corrections and the role of a strangeness asymmetry and isospin violation in the x dependence of parton distributions are evaluated in the context of the neutrino-nucleon cross section. Their contributions to evaluations of the weak mixing angle using the Paschos-Wolfenstein relation are discussed.
