The influence of the proton–neutron pairing force on low–lying collective excitations of even nuclei is investigated within the interacting boson model containing isocsalar and isovector bosons. The application of the boson scheme shows that the deuteron–like pairs can be formed in the valence g–shell of a nucleus (both for protons and neutrons).
