Ordered Au nanoparticle arrays were fabricated on fused quartz substrates using nanosphere lithography. Linear and nonlinear optical properties of triangular Au nanoparticle arrays were investigated. Two LSPR peaks due to the surface plasmon resonance of Au particles were observed. The nonlinear optical properties were measured using the Z-scan technique at a wavelength of 532 nm and pulse duration of 10 ns. The nanoparticle arrays exhibit distinct nonlinear absorption saturation behavior, the absorption coefficient was determined to be –3.5 × 103 (cm/GW).

The linear and nonlinear optical properties in a wurtzite In x Ga 1-x N / Al y Ga 1-y N strained spherical quantum dot (QD) subjected to a uniform external electric field with a direction opposite to that of the built-in electric (BEF) within the framework of effective-mass approximation have been investigated. The results show that the BEF has great effects on the linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients (ACs) and refractive index (RI) changes. Moreover, the dependence of the linear and nonlinear optical properties on the In composition, on the Al composition and on the inner sphere radius has been studied in detail. It is indicated that the ACs and RI changes of the Wurtzite spherical QD have strongly affected by these factors. The results may make a significant contribution to designing some important photodetectors and photonic crystal devices.

ABSTRACTIn this work, we calculated the ground and first excited states of an electron confined in an asymmetric double DDQW system within a Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) matrix. The two-dimensional impurities density (N2d) considered in our calculation are within the range of 1012 to 1013 cm−2. We obtain the linear and nonlinear optical properties related to intersubband transitions as a function of the spacing between δ-doped wells, two-dimensional impurities concentrations as well as in presence of electric field. We reported results for the linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficient and in the relative refractive index changes. Our results show that the asymmetry induced in the double δ-doped well system gives rise to values that are several orders of magnitude higher in the resonant peaks intensity.
