The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the test methods applied for embedded systems addressing selected problems in the automotive domain. Model-based test approaches are reviewed and categorized. Weak points are identified and a novel test method is proposed. It is called model-in-the-loop for embedded system test (MiLEST) and is realized in MATLAB®/Simulink®/Stateflow® environment. Its main contribution refers to functional black-box testing based on the system and test models. It is contrasted with the test methods currently applied in the industry that form dedicated solutions, usually specialized in a concrete testing context. The developed signal-feature-oriented paradigm developed herewith allows the abstract description of signals and their properties. It addresses the problem of missing reference signal flows and allows for a systematic and automatic test data selection. Processing of both discrete and continuous signals is possible, so that the hybrid behavior of embedded systems can be handled.

Portal Web Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia(PNRI) or Indonesian National Library Web Portal is one of the best resources that support education in Indonesia. With the large collection of librarians, PNRI can reach millions of librarian with various education background and area. To ensure its sustainability, we need to conduct research to know how good is the usability this web portal to the remote user. One of the way is using web usability testing. By using this test, PNRI will get the information about what is needed to be fixed and for the next step it can be used as recommendation in redesigning of the portal. PNRI web portal test will be held using remote usability test method. The research is conducted by combining inquiry with formal usability test, like giving a task to the participant. The sampling method used is random sampling by using 32 participant. Data gathering technique used is using online questionnaire.  The research result shows that: (1) most of the participant get difficulties in finding information about service schedule; (2) most of the participant dissatisfied in interface design and arrangement in the homepage of PNRI portal. This research is intended as the starting research. It needs the next research to deepen and complete the information and research findings, especially about portal efficiency.

The phenomena a usability test in the field reveals are different from those uncovered in a classical usability test conducted in a laboratory setting. Comparison studies show that these findings are more related to the user experience and user behaviour than usability and user interaction with the device. Testing in the field is a necessary part of the product development cycle, but the question is what and how to test. Duplicating a laboratory usability test method in the field may not make sense in many cases because the required extra effort does not result in comparable added value, as far as understanding user interaction. Studying user behaviour, on the other hand, requires a less controlled test setting.

The term Ḍabṭ refers to specific markers placed on the Quranic letters to indicate a sound or connotation of the letters such as Sukun, Mad, Tanwin, Syaddah etc. The purpose of Ḍabṭ is to ease the Quranic reciter to recite every text contained in the mushaf accurately. Since it was introduced in the middle of the first century, it has continued to expand from time to time until the present-day. The mushaf that has been transcript into Braille also is no exception. However, there are still some signs used in the regular mushaf that yet to be applied into Braille. Among the sign is the Ṣifr Mustadīr. The objective of this study is to identify the implications of the absence of such markings. The performance test method was used on study participants to obtain information which was then analyzed to achieve the objectives of the study. The findings imply that there are recitational error due to the absence of those sign. Based on this finding, discussions, conclusions and suggestions have been made aimed at ensuring the accuracy of the Braille form of the Quranic text to enable its readers to read the Quran as well as normal mushaf readers. Keywords: Al-Quran Text Writings, Recitation, Ḍabṭ Al-Quran, Braille Qur’an, Visually Impaired Persons.
