Precise and fast position measurement has been a challenging problem in computerized numerical controller (CNC) machines where parts need to be processed at a high speed. This paper inspects data acquisition and processing on a high-speed tube cutting Siemens 840D CNC machine with Windows NT.40 operating system and analyzes the constraints of the old procedure on the production speed. The more efficient technical tactics are proposed and implemented. The laser is added to the system to perform the same data acquisition while the function of the capacitive sensor is kept. A dual data acquisition system is thus created and the old one functions as a backup. In the retrofit, the affordable and practical data communication method is used, the sensor physical movement is avoided, the algorithm is optimized with requirement of less data, and computation of the algorithm is moved from numerical controller unit (NCU) to personal computer unit (PCU). For every tube part, the laser approach reduces the data acquisition and processing time to 4 seconds, compared to 12 seconds with a capacitive sensor.

This paper present a high-speed reconfigurable serial fieldbus (HRSFB) used for industry communication with baud rate up to 10Mbps and reliable communication. We developed this fieldbus based on UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) and practice it on FPGA. By using hardware programming on FPGA, we can get the high speed and make the bus reconfigurable easily. This fieldbus system includes one main node and up to 255 sub nodes, and all the nodes can automatically identified and configured at the beginning of the system which makes the field bus system shrink or expand easily. Also hardware CRC technology and ask/answer mode are used in the communication protocol to guarantee the security of the communication. This bus has been widely used in many fields, like PLC controller, CNC machine controller, data acquisition system and so on.

Abstract A multi-function digital baseband data acquisition system is designed for the sampling, distribution and recording of wide-band multi-channel astronomical signals. The system hires a SNAP2 board as a digital baseband converter to digitize, channelize and packetize the received signal. It can be configured dynamically from a single channel to eight channels with a maximum bandwidth of 4096 MHz. Eight parallel HASHPIPE instances run on four servers, each carrying two NVMe SSD cards, achieving a total continuous write rate of 8 GB s−1. Data are recorded in the standard VDIF file format. The system is deployed on a 25-meter radio telescope to verify its functionality based on pulsar observations. Our results indicate that during the 30-minute observation period, the system achieved zero data loss at a data recording rate of 1 GB s−1 on a single server. The system will serve as a verification platform for testing the functions of the QTT (QiTai radio Telescope) digital backend system. In addition, it can be used as a baseband/VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) recorder or D-F-engine of correlator/beamformer as well.
