1,2,4-Trisubstituted pyrroles were synthesized with an original one-pot domino allylic amination/palladium-catalysed Sonogashira cross-coupling and heterocyclisation process.1H and13C NMR spectra were assigned for twelve new compounds containing different substituents in positions 1 and 2, and a carboxylic acid or ester group in position 4. Each assignment was based on the combination of one, and two-dimensional experiments (APT, COSY, HMBC).

trough the use of Pd(0)-catalyzed coupling between 2- and 4-formyl-3-thiopheneboronic acids and 3-amino-2-bromopyridine and 4-acetamido-3-bromopyridine, convenient one-pot procedures for the preparation of thieno[2,3-c]-1,5-naphthyridine, thieno[3,4-c]-1,5-naphthyridine, thieno-[2,3-c]-1,6-naphthyridine, and thieno[3,4-c]-1,6-naphthyridine have been developed. In order to obtain thieno[3,2-c]-1,6-naphthyridine 2-(tributylstannyl)-3-thiophene aldehyde had to be used, since the organometallic partner in the coupling reaction, 3-formyl-2-thipheneboronic acid, is too easily deboronated. The effect of silver(I) oxide and thallium(I) carbonate on the coupling was studied. 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the six isomeric thieno{c]-fused 1,5- and 1,6-naphthyridines are discussed.

A series of derivatives with various oxygen functionalities in positions 17,22a or 19,20 was prepared from diene I and olefin XVI by addition and oxidation reactions. The structure of the obtained compounds was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and IR spectroscopy. The kind of intramolecular association of the 17α-hydroxy group was studied in connection with modification of the side chain and substitution in position 22a. Complete assignment of the hydrogen signals and most of the coupling constants was accomplished using a combination of 1D and 2D NMR techniques. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra are discussed.

Thermolysis of N-phenyl, N-para-biphenyl, and N-para, para′-terphenylmaleimide with 7-dehydrocholesteryl acetate in benzene solution at 200 °C yields mixtures of four cycloadducts in relative yields that are essentially independent of the maleimide substituent. The three major products are those of ene addition to C7 of the steroid with abstraction of the proton at C9 or C14. The α-endo-Diels-Alder adduct is formed as a minor product. The structures of the adducts have been elucidated on the basis of one- and two-dimensional 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques, including homonuclear 1H decoupling, NOE, 1H–1H COSY, heteronuclear 1H–13C shift correlation, and TOCSY 2-D experiments, and the results of molecular mechanics (MMX) calculations. The combination of these techniques has made it possible to almost completely assign the 1H and 13C NMR spectra for two of the ene adducts and the Diels–Alder adduct from reaction of 7-dehydrocholesteryl acetate with N-phenyl maleimide.

The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the cardenolides digitoxigenin, digoxigenin, digitoxin, and mono- and bis-digitoxigenin digitoxosides have been completely assigned by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy. The techniques used include phase-sensitive COSY, multiple relay COSY, and carbon–proton correlation (HETCOR and HMQC) spectra. Various aspects of the solution conformation of the steroid moiety of digitoxin and digoxigenin could be determined from coupling constants and NOE difference experiments and they are indicative of an all-chair conformation. The carbohydrate rings in digitoxin and the mono- and bis-digitoxigenin digitoxosides are also in the chair conformation. Keywords: cardenolides, digitoxigenin, digitoxin, 2-dimensional NMR, conformational analysis.

The present review of NMR spectroscopic structural elucidation data of new compounds isolated from Scutellaria species is focused on the title compounds, displaying a peculiar 13-spiro feature. It contains a compilation of 1H and 13C NMR data of these diterpenoids grouped by similar substitution patterns. Comparing shielding effects pointed out not only the identity of some compounds (already reported) but also potential misassignments and convenient revisions to get unambiguous structural proposals.

Two improved routes to synthesize 1-benzyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (6) and 1,4,7,10- tetraazacyclododecane-1-acetic acid ethyl ester (11) are described as well as the synthesis of 1-{2-[4-(maleimido-N-propylacetamidobutyl)amino]-2-oxoethyl}-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane- 4,7,10-triacetic acid (17) and its Y, Ho, Tm, and Lu complexes. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of the new compounds as well as the single crystal X-ray structure analyses of the intermediates 4-benzyl-1,7-bis(p-toluenesulfonyl)diethylenetriamine (3) and 1,4,7-tris(p-toluenesulfonyl)diethylenetriamine (7) are reported and discussed. The rare earth complexes of 17 have been characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.
