The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical properties of piperine (PP) in ground mixtures (GMs) of PP with α-, β-, or γ-cyclodextrin (CD) under conditions of humidity, heat, and humidity-heat. In solid-state fluorescence measurements, the fluorescence maxima for GM (PP/αCD = 1/2), GM (PP/βCD = 1/1), and GM (PP/γCD = 1/1) were observed at 463, 472, and 469 nm, respectively. On the other hand, the humidified GMs exhibited maxima at 454, 460, and 465 nm, while the humidified-heated samples displayed fluorescence maxima at 455, 455, and 469 nm, respectively. Therefore, the molecular behavior of PP with α, β, and γCD was concluded to vary upon the coordination of water molecules. NIR and solid-state fluorescence measurements revealed that the molecular behavior of PP inside the α, β, and γCD cavity changed by water and heat factors depends on the mobility of the methylenedioxyphenyl group.

The oxypentafluorouranates(VI) MUOF5, where M = NH4, K, Rb, Cs, have been synthetized from reaction of UOF4 with the ammonium or corresponding alkali metal fluoride in liquid SO2. According to X-ray diffraction, Raman and infrared spectroscopy, and from an isomorphism with the corresponding hexafluorouranates(V) MUF6, two different environments around the uranium atom are observed. In CsUOF5 the five fluorine atoms and the oxygen around the uranium result in a pseudo-octahedral surrounding whereas for the other complexes (M = NH4, K, Rb) each uranium is surrounded by eight light atoms forming a dodecahedron. In this structure the dodecahedra are linked together by fluorine atoms to form infinite chains. The UOF5− ion has been characterized by vibrational spectroscopy in the solid state. The proposed assignment, which was made with the assumption of a C4v symmetry of the UOF5− ion, was confirmed by a force constant calculation. From these data and contrary to the values reported for comparable oxypentafluoroanions, the axial fluorine is found to be less ionic than the equatorial ones.

Recently, some solid state fermentation (SSF) processes of xanthan production were studied. However, quantitative analysis of the concentration of xanthan and biomass is more complicated than that of submerged fermentation. To facilitate the analysis of these components, near–infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) was used. A NIRS calibration models for rapidly estimating xanthan and biomass concentration in xanthan fermentation on inert support of polyurethane foam was established. The wavenumber and spectral pretreatment method were optimized. The data of cross validation and external validation shows that NIRS was suitable for rapid and accurate quantification of the concentration of xanthan and biomass in solid state fermentation on inert support. This method will provide much convenience for the research of solid state fermentation on inert support.

The solid adducts of SnCl2.(3amt).H2O, SnCl2.2(3amt).H2O, CdCl2.(3amt), CdCl2.2(3amt), SnCl2.(2mct).0.5H2O, SnCl2.2(2mct), CdCl2.(2mct), CdCl2.2(2mct).H2O, SnCl2.(2mcp).1.5H2O, >2.2(2mcp).4H2O, CdCl2.(2mcp), CdCl2.2(2mcp), SnCl2.(4amt).4H2O, SnCl2.2(4amt).1.5H2O, CdCl2.(4amt).H2O, and CdCl2.2(4amt) (where the 3amt, 4amt, 2mct, and 2mcp represent 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole, 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole, 2-mercaptothiazoline, and 2-mercaptopyridine simple organic chelates, respectively) were prepared using a solid-state route and investigated by CHN elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Additionally, we investigated the thermogravimetric characterization and antimicrobial proprieties. It is verified that for 3amt and 4amt adducts, the coordination occurs through nitrogen atom. For 2mct compounds, the coordination occurs through nitrogen (Sn) or sulfur (Cd). For 2mcp adducts, both coordination sites nitrogen and sulfur are involved. By examination of TG curves, it is confirmed that for each hydrated compounds, the first mass loss step is linked with the release of water molecules followed by the release of ligand molecules and sublimation of the metal chloride. Furthermore, it is verified that, considering only the release of ligand molecules (3amp, 4amp, 2mct, or 2mcp), the cadmium adducts are always more stable than the correspondent tin adducts probably due to the formation of cross-linking bonds in these compounds. Finally, of these 16 adducts, 14 showed antimicrobial activities against different bacterial and fungal strains.

Successful human social life requires imagining what others believe or think to understand and predict behavior. This ability, often referred to as theory of mind, reliably engages a specialized network of temporal and prefrontal brain regions in older children and adults, including selective recruitment of temporal-parietal junction (TPJ). To date, how and when this specialized brain organization for ToM arises is unknown due to limitations in functional neuroimaging at younger ages. Here we employed the emerging technique of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to measure the functional brain response across the parietal, temporal, and prefrontal regions in 7-month old male and female infants as they viewed different video scenarios of a person searching for a hidden object. Over different conditions, we manipulated whether the person held an accurate (true) or inaccurate (false) belief about the location of the hidden object in the videos. In two separate experiments, we observed that the TPJ, but not other temporal and prefrontal regions, spontaneously tracked with the beliefs of the other person, responding more during scenarios when the other person’s belief regarding the location of the object was false compared to scenarios when her belief was true. These results mirror those obtained with adults to show that the TPJ already shows some functional organization relevant to high-level social cognition by around 7-months. Furthermore, these results suggest that infants may draw on similar core mechanisms to implicitly track beliefs as adults do when explicitly reasoning about them.
