The detection of incipient faults has attracted industrials and researchers specific attention in order to prevent the motor breakdown, improve its reability and increase its lifetime. This paper presents a squirrel cage induction machine broken bar and rings diagnosis approach. This technic uses a new monitored signal as an auxiliary winding voltage related to a small coil inserted between two stator phases. Monitoring behaviors of the Lissajous curve of this auxiliary winding voltage park components under different load levels is the main key of this study. For this purpose, the squirrel cage induction machine modeling and the explicit expressions developed for the inserted winding voltage and its Park components will be presented. Then, an induction machine with different broken cases: one broken bar, two broken bars, broken end ring and broken bars with end ring are investigated. The simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed approach.

The development of electronic power components has allowed the increase of the induction machine performance. Indeed, monitoring squirrel cage induction motors driven through rectifiers and inverters has been a major concern. This paper presents a new method to diagnose the combination inverter-machine faults. This technic considers an auxiliary winding which is a small coil inserted between two stator phases. It is based on Lissajous curve of this auxiliary winding voltage Park components. For this purpose, modeling the electromechanical conversion chain is necessary. The focus will particularly be on modeling both the squirrel cage induction machine and the inverter in a non-defected case which is a reference. Moreover, the explicit expressions developed for the inserted winding voltage and its Park components will be presented. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper is to propose a novel fault diagnosis method for broken rotor bars in squirrel-cage induction motor of hoister, which is based on duffing oscillator and multifractal dimension. Firstly, based on the analysis of the structure and performance of modified duffing oscillator, the end of transitional slope from chaotic area to large-scale cycle area is selected as the optimal critical threshold of duffing oscillator by bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponent. Secondly, the phase transformation duffing oscillator from chaos to intermittent chaos is sensitive to the signals, whose frequency difference is quite weak from the reference signal. The spectrums of the largest Lyapunov exponents and bifurcation diagrams of the duffing oscillator are utilized to analyze the variance in different parameters of frequency. Finally, this paper is to analyze the characteristics of both single fractal (box-counting dimension) and multifractal and make a comparison between them. Multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis is applied to detect extra frequency component of current signal. Experimental results reveal that the method is effective for early detection of broken rotor bars in squirrel-cage induction motor of hoister.
