AbstractThree known and two new species of Aphanolaimus are described, viz. A. louisae, A. seshadrii, A. brasiliensis, A. aberrans sp. n. and A. vietnamicus sp. n. New data on the morphology and distribution of A. louisae, A. seshadrii and A. brasiliensis are given. The male of A. brasiliensis is described for the first time: it is characterised by the presence of one pair of neck setae, four tubular supplements, two precloacal and six caudal setae, 13-18 μm long spicules with oval manubrium and gradually narrowing shaft, platelike gubernaculum. Aphanolaimus aberrans sp. n. is characterised by a 495-681 μm long body, longitudinally striated cuticle, presence of 24-34 lateral epidermal glands, weakly sclerotised stoma, amphid with central elevation, lateral field starting on the third to seventh annule, oval ventral gland cell; female reproductive system with developed spermathecae, straight vagina without sclerotisations; male with one pair of neck setae, with two or three small tubular supplements and three or four caudal setae, 13-18 μm long spicules with oval manubrium and gradually narrowing shaft, plate-like gubernaculum. Aphanolaimus vietnamicus sp. n. is characterised by a 544-569 μm long body, longitudinally striated cuticle, presence of 19 lateral epidermal glands, weakly sclerotised stoma, amphid with central elevation, lateral field starting on 14th-18th annule, oval ventral gland cell; female reproductive system with developed spermathecae, straight vagina without sclerotisations; male with one pair of neck setae, with two tubular supplements and four caudal setae, 12 μm long spicules with oval manubrium and gradually narrowing shaft.

The Stenothemus harmandi species-group has 10 species at present. They are S. harmandi (Bourgeois, 1902) (located in N. India, Nepal); S. holosericus Švihla, 2005, S. orbiculatus Švihla, 2005 and S. subnitidus Švihla, 2005 (N. India); S. distortirudis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014, S. laticollis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014, S. parallelus Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014 and S. septimus Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014 (China: Xizang); S. fugongensis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014 (China: Yunnan) and S. leishanensis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014 (China: Guizhou). In the present study, two previously-known species are classified into this species-group, S. dentatus Wittmer, 1974 and S. alexandrae Švihla, 2004, of which the latter as a subspecies of the former is upgraded to the specific level and another two new species are discovered and described. Two new species of the Stenothemus harmandi species-group are described, S. acuticollis sp. n. (China: Yunnan) and S. nigricolor sp. n. (China: Xizang), which are illustrated with habitus photos and aedeagi of males, abdominal sternites VIII and internal genitalia of females. S. alexandrae Švihla, 2004 stat. n. is upgraded from a subspecies of S. dentatus Wittmer, 1974 and the two species are classified into this species-group. Characters of the female reproductive system are described for the first time for the following species: S. distortirudis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014; S. laticollis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014; S. leishanensis Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014; S. orbiculatus Švihla, 2005; S. septimus Y. Yang & X. Yang, 2014 and S. subnitidus Švihla, 2005. Meanwhile, some additional distribution information is added for previously-described species. A key for the identification of all species is updated.

Aphanolaimus strilliae n. sp. and Makatinus africanus n. sp. are described from freshwater sources in the Telperion Nature Reserve, Mpumalanga, South Africa. Aphanolaimus strilliae n. sp. is characterised by a body length of 1240–1613 μm, more than 800 body annules, lateral field originating between the first and second lateral body pore at the 34th–46th annule, first lateral body pore located at the 25th–35th annule, vagina V-shaped and bent anteriorly, 142–195 µm long uterus and 165–207 µm long tail with spinneret offset. This species is ovoviviparous and no males were found. Makatinus africanus n. sp. is characterised by a large, thick body (3228–4128 μm long, a = 30–39 wide), slightly set off lip region with amalgamated lips; 31–34 μm long odontostyle; long tongue-shaped cardia, and stout, short tail (30–43 μm long) with a small peg / digitate extension and male absent. Populations of three known species, Chronogaster africana, Eutobrilus annetteae and Neotobrilus ampiei, from fresh water at the Telperion Nature Reserve are described and scanning electron microscope graphs of these species published for the first time.

Abstract Two known and one new species of Paraphanolaimus are described, viz. P. behningi from Germany, P. anisitsi from Paraguay and Germany and P. paraguayensis sp. n. from Paraguay. Paraphanolaimus paraguayensis sp. n. is characterised by 0.84-0.94 mm long body, presence of 37-44 lateral epidermal glands, strongly sclerotised and broad cylindrical stoma, swollen tail tip; female reproductive system with developed spermathecae, straight vagina; male without neck setae, 16-19 tubular supplements, two precloacal and nine to ten caudal setae, spicules 32-33 μm long, arcuate, with oval manubrium and fusiform shaft, platelike gubernaculum. Paraphanolaimus indicus and P.micoletzkyi are considered as species inquirendae. An emended diagnosis and a revised classification of Paraphanolaimus are proposed and a key to the species of the genus is provided. Aphanonchus bayensis (Keppner, 1988) comb. n. is proposed for Paraphanolaimus bayensis Keppner, 1988.

AbstractA new species of Rhabditinae collected from compost, is described and illustrated together with observations on embryonic and post-embryonic development. Oscheius shamimi sp. n. is characterised by a medium-sized body (female: L = 0.76-1.52 mm, a = 12-20, b = 4.2-6.3, c = 6.8-13.8, c′ = 4.1-5.8, V = 45-51), finely annulated cuticle; slightly demarcated lip region; lips fused to form three doublets; six lines in lateral field; small stoma with isomorphic metastegostom; cylindrical pharyngeal corpus; slightly protruded vulval lips with subventral cuticular flap; long, proximally dilated, rectum; 53-61 μm long, robust spicules with long capitula having strongly cuticularised ventral walls; pseudopeloderan bursa with nine pairs of genital papillae in 1 + 1 + 1/3 + 3 + ph configuration and six to seven pairs of copulatory muscle bands. Oscheius shamimi sp. n. is amphimictic with a 1:1 sex ratio. The eggs are ovoid and smooth-shelled and measure 48-78 × 37-48 μm. Most eggs are laid in the late stages of embryonation. The embryonation time was 14-15 h at 25 ± 2°C. The genital primordium was orientated obliquely to the longitudinal axis and did not show division of primordial nuclei during the first moult. The didelphic female reproductive system was formed as a result of anterior and posterior elongation of the primordium while the monorchic reproductive system of the male developed from an anterior elongation of the primordium. The life cycle from egg to adult was completed in 3-3.5 days at 25 ± 2°C.

The species of Stenothemus Bourgeois, 1907 from Southwest China are reviewed. Three species are transferred to this genus, S. davidi (Pic, 1926) comb. nov. (from Malthacus Kirby, 1837), S. minutissimus (Pic, 1933) comb. nov. (from Micropodabrus Pic, 1920) and S. singularicollis (Pic, 1933) comb. nov. (from Lycocerus Gorham, 1895). Two new synonyms are suggested, S. dinshuiensis Švihla, 2011 syn. nov. is synonymized with S. davidi and S. melleus Švihla, 2005 syn. nov. with S. singularicollis. Stenothemus shaanxiensis Švihla, 2004 stat. nov. is raised to species level from a subspecies of S. benesi Švihla, 2004. Five new species are described, S. gracilis Y. Yang & X. Yang sp. nov., S. chongqingensis Y. Yang & H. Liu sp. nov., S. flavicollis Y. Yang & S. Ge sp. nov., S. jindraimimus Y. Yang & X. Yang sp. nov. and S. laticornis Y. Yang & H. Liu sp. nov., which are illustrated with photographs of habitus, aedeagi, abdominal sternites VIII and internal genitalia of the female. Characters of the female reproductive system are described for the first time for the following species: S. diffusus Wittmer, 1974, S. dundai Švihla, 2004, S. grahami Wittmer, 1974, S. jindrai Švihla, 2004, S. tryznai Švihla, 2004 and S. singularicollis. Some additional distribution information is added for previously known species. A key for the identification of all studied species is provided.

Abstract Two new species of diplogastrid nematodes from India are described and illustrated. Diplogasteroides uriceus sp. n. has a medium-sized body, monoprodelphic reproductive system lacking a post-uterine sac, anteriorly directed muscular vagina and vulva located far posterior; long, slender, arcuate spicules; gubernaculum with proximal thread-like flexible part and nine pairs of genital papillae of which four pairs are precloacal and five pairs postcloacal. The new species resembles D. crassus but can be most easily differentiated by the structure of the cheilorhabdions, shape and structure of the gubernaculum, arrangement of the genital papillae and the complete absence of a bursa. The new species also resembles D. proprius but can be differentiated by stoma structure, more anteriorly located vulva, longer spicules, gubernaculum shape and tail form. Rhabditidoides papillatus sp. n. is characterised by the presence of three pairs of post-deirids in the lateral fields, posteriorly curved tubular stoma, amphidelphic female reproductive system, strongly developed, arcuate spicules with bilobed capitulum and a slender gubernaculum provided with a sleeve distally and anteriorly directed bifid ends proximally. It can be distinguished from R. stigmatus by the structure of the spicule head, gubernaculum shape and arrangement of the genital papillae; from R. mastigurus by spicule structure and the gubernaculum shape; and from R. quercophilus by a more slender female body, stoma structure, absence of a male bursa, spicule form and arrangement of the genital papillae.

The genus Pholcus Walckenaer, 1805 is reported from Pakistan for the first time. Two new species of the Pholcus nenjukovi species-group are described: Pholcus hamuchal Yao & Li sp. nov. (Gilgit Baltistan, male and female) and Pholcus kalam Yao & Li sp. nov. (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, male and female). Type material is deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZCAS) in Beijing, China.

In this paper, M. yanomami n. sp., from Brazilian Amazonia, Chaetacis bandeirante n. sp., from Central Brazil, and the males of M. gaujoni Simon, 1897 and M. ruschii (Mello-Leitão, 1945) n. comb. , respectively from Ecuador and Brazil, are described and illustrated for the first time. An ontogenetic series of the last development stages of both sexes of Micrathena excavata (C. L. Koch, 1836) is illustrated and briefly described. Adult females are larger and have longer legs and larger abdomens than adult males. Probably females undergo at least one additional moult before adulthood, compared to males. Micrathena ornata Mello-Leitão, 1932 is considered a junior synonym of M. plana (C. L. Koch, 1836), and M. mastonota Mello-Leitão 1940 is synonymized with M. horrida (Taczanowski, 1873). Acrosoma ruschii Mello-Leitão, 1945 is revalidated, transferred to Micrathena and considered a senior synonym of M. cicuta Gonzaga & Santos, 2004. Chaetacis necopinata (Chickering, 1960) is recorded for Brazil for the first time. Chaetacis incisa (Walckenaer, 1841) is considered a nomen dubium.

This paper provides a comprehensive check list of Nolinae species recorded in Hong Kong, China based on the collections of the second author, Dr. Roger Kendrick and the Natural History Museum, London. The checklist comprises 30 species.  Two of them are new to science and described here as new species (Spininola kendricki sp. n., and Hampsonola ceciliae sp. n.). Misidentification of the female paratype of Spininola nepali László, Ronkay & Ronkay, 2014 is revealed and the true female of S. nepali is illustrated with its genitalia described here for the first time. The hitherto unknown female of S. armata László, Ronkay & Witt, 2010 is also illustrated here for the first time. All species recorded from Hong Kong are illustrated together with their genitalia on 54 colour and 46 black and white diagnostic figures.

The species of the water scavenger beetle genus Laccobius Erichson, 1837 occuring in China are reviewed. Two new species are described: Laccobius (Glyptolaccobius) qinlingensis sp. nov. (Shaanxi) and L. (Cyclolaccobius) hainanensis sp. nov. (Hainan). Five species are recorded for the first time: Laccobius (Dimorpholaccobius) bipunctatus (Fabricius, 1775), L. (D.) striatulus (Fabricius, 1801) and L. (Compsolaccobius) pallidissimus Reitter, 1899 (all from Xinjiang), L. (Microlaccobius) tonkinensis Gentili, 1979 (Shaanxi), and L. (Compsolaccobius) decorus (Gyllenhal, 1827) (Qinghai). Additional faunistic data from China are provided for the following species: L. (Cyclolaccobius) hingstoni Orchymont, 1926, L.
