Ten years after the last description of a new species of Aspilia from Brazil, a new species of Brazilian Aspilia (Heliantheae, Asteraceae) is here described as A. pseudocalea, a species endemic to the State of Goiás, Brazil. This new species is recognized by its herbaceous habit, linear leaves, and a prominent glabrous, stramineous scar on the base of the cypsela that extends to near the middle of the fruit body. It is closely related to A. prostrata, but differs by the leaf shape, involucre size and number of series of involucral bracts, and geographical distribution. Illustrations, comments, distribution map, and conservation status are provided for the new species. Additionally, a diagnostic key to closely related species is provided.

A new species, Queskallion saetosumsp. nov., is described herein from Sichuan Province, China. It is diagnosed from a closely related species, Q. tangi Smetana, 2015. Color images and line drawings of the adult of the new species, as well as its genitalia are provided. In addition, a checklist of species, an updated key to species and a geographical distribution map of all known species in the genus Queskallion Smetana are included.

Pimpinella ibradiensis, an unusual new species found in the Toka Yayla (İbradı, Antalya) in southern Anatolia, is described and illustrated. Site conditions, synecology and conservation status of P. ibradiensis are considered. In light of the comparison with the other closely related four species, namely P. nephrophylla, P. flabellifolia, P. sintenisii and P. paucidentata, its similarity within the genus are discussed. P. ibradiensis is easly distinguished from its relatives by its white petals, presence of bracts and bracteoles, larger fruits (4–5.5 × 1–2 mm), and having serrulate basal leaves with 60–95 strongly cartilaginous teeth along margins. The geographical distribution of P. ibradiensis and closely related species are mapped and the identification key of those species is updated.

In this study, Fritillaria arsusiana (Liliaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from Hatay province in southern Anatolia, Turkey. It is related to F. amana and F. hermonis by habitus features and broadly campanulate flowers, but differs mainly by its bulb shape and size, smaller leaf and flower features, and flower colour. It has also been morphologically compared with F. wendelboi, F. pinardii, and F. latakiensis. The detailed description, diagnostic characters, original photographs, geographical distribution, habitat and phenology, etymology, conservation status, and identification key of the new and the related species are presented in this study. IUCN conservation status of F. arsusiana is suggested as Critically Endangered (CR).

This new species differs from morphologically related species by the branch indument, leaf morphology, number of phyllary series and corolla lobe indument. A new species, Stachys semsurensis (sect. Infrarosularis), is described and illustrated from Adıyaman province, Turkey. From the morphological point of view, it appears to be similar to Stachys cataonica, but it differs in several morphological features including densely covered with short stalked to subsessile glandular hairs in flowering stems, verticillasters congested into ± globose head, calyx teeth lanceolate-subulate, corolla white, tube exserted and nutlets obovoid, greyish-brown, reticulate. A comprehensive description of the new species is provided, including detailed photographs, geographical distribution map, habitat structure and ecology, vernacular name and IUCN conservation status.

We describe a new species of Gomesa (Oncidiinae, Orchidaceae), Gomesa caatingana, with restricted distribution on caatinga inselbergs in Paraíba and Pernambuco States, Brazil. Morphological and karyological characters of the new species were compared with those of Gomesa flexuosa, which is morphologically the most closely related species. Differences in geographical distribution, habit, flower morphology and chromosome number support description of this new species.

Centaurea malatyensis Ş. Kültür & M. Bona sp. nova (Asteraceae) is described as new to science from East Anatolia (B6: Malatya: Turkey). It is morphologically similar to C. leptophylla but differs mainly in its stem, basal and cauline leaf shape and size, achene, pappus and phyllary appendages. The geographical distribution of the new species and its relatives is mapped. The ecology and conservation status of the new species is also presented. Micromorphological structures of achenes of C. malatyensis and C. leptophylla are examined by SEM.

Myrcia adulterina, a new species from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, is here described, illustrated and compared with morphologically related species. Additionally, its distribution map and a preliminary conservation status are presented. The new species is here inferred as belonging to Myrcia sect. Reticulosae due its leaves with raised venation, staminal ring densely pilose, hypanthium prolonged in a tube with glabrous inner walls and 3-locular ovaries. Within this section, the species is morphologically related to Myrcia pubipetala, from which it can be distinguished through the laxly reticulate leaf venation and thyrsoid inflorescences with all axes strongly flattened and striated when dry. Myrcia adulterina was misidentified during at least 15 years in herbaria under the name Marlierea tomentosa (currently synonym of Myrcia strigipes, a species belonging to Myrcia sect. Aulomyrcia), which is also morphologically similar. A brief discussion clarifying the morphological differences between these species is also presented.

Verbascum seydisehirense (Scrophulariaceae), endemic to the Konya region of Central Anatolia, is described as new species based on the plant’s morphological features. The new species is morphologically similar to Verbascum phrygium, but it differs from it for basal leaf shape, calyx size, corolla size, corolla indumentum and glands, and capsule shape and size. In this study, a detailed description, illustration, distribution map, conservation status and ecology of the new species are provided. Additionally, the study looks in detail at pollen grains and seed coat ornamentation of Verbascum seydisehirense and includes SEM micrographs.
