Desmodium amplistipulaceum, a new species from the evergreen tropical forest of La Sepultura Biosphere Reserve, Chiapas, is described and illustrated. Morphologically it is very similar to Desmodium helleri, but it differs from this by persistent and widely ovate stipules; inflorescences in simple racemes and slightly hirsute sessile loments with 4 or 5 articles. It includes a morphological description, map of distribution and comparative photographs of the calyx, trichomes of calyx and gynoecium and stigma for both species, as well as an identification key to differentiate all the Desmodium species from La Sepultura, Chiapas.

A new species of freshwater Amphipod, Gammarus topkarai sp. nov., collected from Ivriz Creek, Tarsus Province, South Anatolia, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to Gammarus pulex-group and shows similar characteristic features with Gammarus agrarius G. S. Karaman, 1973. Absence of well developed dorsal elevations on the urosome segments, smaller body length and relatively lower endopod/exopod ratio of third uropod are the most obvious features differ from G. agrarius. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of new species are given and differences from related species are discussed. An updated identification key of Gammarus taxa reported from Turkey, up to date, was also presented.

A new species of Heteropterys belonging to the Parabanisteria informal group is described for the savannas grasslands of the Serra do Tombador Natural Reserve, municipality of Cavalcante, State of Goiás, Brazil. Heteropterys rosmarinifolia is easily distinguished from the remaining Brazilian species of the Parabanisteria informal group due to its stems unbranched, leaves associated with the inflorescence verticillate, blades linear to very narrowly oblong, strongly conduplicate, ascending to upright, and sparsely sericeous to glabrous at age. We present a complete morphological description for the new species, photographic plates, comments on its distribution, ecology, and taxonomy, besides an identification key to the species of Heteropterys from the Parabanisteria group from the State of Goiás, Brazil.

A new species of the small carpenter bee, genus Ceratina (Ceratinula) Moure, from the Cerrado Biome in midwestern Brazil is described and illustrated. Ceratina (Ceratinula) fioreseana Oliveira, sp. nov. is easily distinguished from its congeners by the size of the facial maculations and the honey-yellow color of the legs and antennal scape, which distinguish it especially from Ceratina (Ceratinula) manni Cockerell, 1912, the most similar species in terms of facial maculation patterns. The geographic records of C. manni, here interpreted as endemic to the semiarid Caatinga region in northeastern Brazil, are presented, with new records for the Brazilian states of Piauí, Ceará and Bahia. A morphological description of both species is provided, including a comparison with the type specimen of C. manni from the state of Paraíba (Guarabira, formerly named Independencia). An identification key is provided for the described species of Ceratina (Ceratinula) recorded for Brazil according to Moure’s Catalogue of Neotropical Bees.

Abstract—A new gesneriad species, Didymocarpus vickifunkiae is described here from the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot. The new species is morphologically similar to D. aureoglandulosus, but differs from it in having a corolla tube with indumentum, eglandular and ovate to oblanceolate bracteoles, slightly broader calyx lobes, and a bearded anther. We provide a detailed morphological description of the newly described species along with images and compare it with species that are morphologically similar to it. Here, we also lectotypify D. aureoglandulosus and provide a brief history on its collection and taxonomy. Finally, we provide a dichotomous identification key for all the Didymocarpus species from Mizoram, India.

An attractive and interesting new species, Muscari savranii Uysal & Doğu (Asparagaceae) is described and illustrated from central Anatolia, Turkey. A complete morphological description, detailed photographs, and a distribution map are reported for the new species, including an identification key for related species. Muscari savranii grows on the inclined limestone slopes in the province of Kayseri, Turkey. The closest species appears to be Muscari tenuiflorum Tausch, a member of the subgenus Leopoldia (Parl.) Rouy. In this study, diagnostic micro-macro morphological characters are discussed and compared with related taxa. Moreover, M. savranii is characterized in terms of its chromosomal features and a comparison with its relatives is given.

Dichrooscytus fervens Muinonen & Rinne sp. n. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae) is described based on material collected in Finland between 2011 and 2018. A morphological description is provided along with DNA barcodes (COI gene) and a phylogeny of all the Dichrooscytus species for which a DNA barcode is available. The new species lives on Picea spp. and is still known only from Finland. A map of all the records is given, as well as an identification key of the Dichrooscytus species occurring in northern Europe.

Quararibea bragae from the Atlantic Forest of Espírito Santo State (Brazil) is proposed as a new species. Quararibea bragae is similar to Q. turbinata in vegetative characteristics, such as the shape and consistency of its leaves and type of domatia. However, it can be distinguished by the leaves’ indumentum and by the positioning and quantity of domatia on the abaxial surface of the leaves. Reproductive characteristics are differentiated by the shape and indumentum of the staminal tube and the shape of the fruit. We present a morphological description and comments, illustration, notes on ecology and distribution, and identification key of Atlantic Forest species.

Cyperus tuckerianus is a new species described to the Central-West Region of Brazil. This species is similar to Cyperus unioloides, Cyperus lanceolatus var. compositus and Cyperus lanceolatus var. subunioloides, however the new species is distinguished by its lax anthela, simple or compound with spikelets digitiform or grouped in glomerules, by the size of the spikelets and anthers and narrower rachilla. Morphological description, illustration, identification key, data about the habitat and comparisons with similar species are presented.

A new species, Polygala guilanica (Polygalaceae), is described from Kooh-Roubar, Gasht-Roodkhan protected area in W Guilan province, N Iran. The new species is distinguished based on its prostrate stem; small, lanceolate, ovate and rhombic, sessile leaves; tiny pink-white flowers in lax terminal racemes; 6 or 8 stamens with sessile anthers, a filiform style and brownish seed with 3-lobed caruncle. Detailed morphological description of the new species, photographs and distribution map are provided. Polygala guilanica is compared with the morphologically closest species: P. kurdica, P. hohenackeriana and P. anatolica. An updated identification key is provided for the Iranian species.

A new species of the tribe Hemigasterini, Platymystax xalapa sp. nov., is described from the Mexican State of Veracruz. It is the first species of the genus described from the New World. A preliminary identification key to all known seven species of Platymystax of the world fauna is provided.
