A new species and a new record of Typhonium (Araceae) from southern Vietnam

Typhonium vietnamense is described as a new species from Vietnam. It is most similar to Typhonium varians but differs in a combination of leafy and floral characters. In addition, T. khonkaenensis is newly recorded for Vietnam, leading to exclusion of T. violifolium from the national flora. An updated key to all known species of Typhonium in Vietnam is given.

The new species, Bulbophyllum manhdatii (B. sect. Brachyantha) discovered in Da Lat Plateau, Lam Dong Province (southern Vietnam) is described here. This new species is close to B. pumilio but clearly differs in densely crowded pseudobulbs and their shape, shorter inflorescence, lateral sepals forming a narrow acute tube slightly flattened at the base, lip without median keel, and longer stelidia. In addition, a new national record, B. seidenfadenii, from the same section is also reported from the first time from North Vietnam.

Ophiorrhiza hiepii and O. hainanensis are reported as a new species and a new record for Vietnam respectively. O. hiepii is morphologically similar to O. subrubescens but differs by its smaller habit, usually unbranched stems, fewer secondary veins, umbelliform and sub-congested cymes, shorter corolla tubes and shorter stigma lobes in short-styled flowers. The mature flowers of O. hainanensis, which were unknown before, were measured in the wild for supplemental description of its floral characters. Additionally, the relationship between O. hainanensis and O. nutans, two easily confused species is clarified.

Peliosanthes oksanae is described and illustrated as a new species from eastern Thailand. It is most similar to P. gracilipes known from northern and southwestern Thailand and northwestern Laos, from which it differs mainly by the shorter flowering stem, flowers borne singly or binately in the axils of the bracts and almost free oblong filaments not forming a typical corona. We briefly discuss taxonomic relationships between P. oksanae and two similar species, P. gracilipes and P. caesia. It is notable that especially P. oksanae and P. gracilipes are close in floral characters to Ophiopogon. We also report P. triandra, which was described from southern Cambodia, as new to Thailand. Both P. triandra and P. oksanae occurred in the same habitat.

Antheromorphanguyenisp. n. is described and illustrated from Kon Ka Kinh National Park, southern Vietnam. The new species is distinguished by a peculiar colour pattern showing a uniformly black-brown body contrasting with yellow-brown paraterga and epiproct, as well as in the pointed gonopodal process being unusually short, only approximately half as long as the solenophore. In addition, an identification key to all 13 presently known species, all mapped, is given. A new record of A.festiva is provided from southern Vietnam.

Abstract—We describe a new species of Stegnogramma (Thelypteridaceae; Polypodiales) as Stegnogramma australis. Morphologically, it is most similar to S. griffithii, sharing the character of pinnate fronds with ternate terminal pinnae. However, S. australis can be distinguished from S. griffithii by having more free pinna pairs, shorter distal stipe hairs, and fewer included veinlets in the laminar areoles. A description, photographs of key characters, and the known distribution of the new species are presented. We also infer genome size and reproductive mode of the new species using flow cytometry. In addition, the occurrence of S. aspidioides in Vietnam is confirmed and a key to all known species of Stegnogramma in Vietnam is given.

The genus Agrisius Walker (1855) is reported for the first time in Cambodia, for the new species Agrisius nigripunctata sp. n. Additionally, Agrisius fuliginosus is reported for the first time in Laos, Myanmar, China, Thailand and Vietnam. Illustrations of the adult and genitalia of Agrisius nigripunctata sp. n. and A. fuliginosus Moore are presented.

Seven species of freshwater crabs from three families are recorded from and around the Danum Valley Conservation Area in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo: Thelphusulacapillodigitus sp. n., Thelphusuladicerophilus Ng & Stuebing, 1990, Arachnothelphusaterrapes Ng, 1991, Terrathelphusasecula Ng & Tan, 2015, Parathelphusavalida Ng & Goh, 1987 (new record) (Gecarcinucidae); Isolapotamoningeri Ng & Tan, 1998 (Potamidae); and Geosesarmadanumense Ng, 2002 (Sesarmidae). The new species of Thelphusula Bott, 1979, can be distinguished from all congeners by a unique combination of morphological features, most notably the presence of dense patches of short setae on the fingers of the adult male chelipeds, as well as the structure of the male first gonopod. Arachnothelphusaterrapes is confirmed to be a phytotelm species. A key to all species in the conservation area is provided.
