The formerly monobasic genus Theognete Champion is revised. The two syntypes of Theognete laevis Champion are found to represent two species, one of which is described as T. championi Anderson, new species. Another 92 new species are also recognized. The 94 known species are grouped into 8 informal species groups, based largely on the structure of the thoracic sterna. Species groups are characterized and taxonomic composition and general distribution and ecological correlates summarized. Diagnoses and distributions are given for all species and ecological information is presented where available. Local endemism is remarkable throughout the genus, nearly all species known from one or only a limited number of proximal localities. Individual distribution maps are not presented but .kmz data files for use with GoogleEarth® are presented as hot links under the distribution for each species group. Immature stages, life history and food habits are not known for any of the species, although the larvae are presumed to feed in dead wood, as do other members of Lymantini and related tribes. The species are distributed as follows: México (78), Honduras (10), Guatemala (6), El Salvador (3). This study represents the results of over 20 years of intensive leaf litter collections made in México and northern Middle America.

A new species of Gonatocerus Nees (Mymaridae) is described from the states of San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas in Mexico, with additional records from Argentina and Peru. Type specimens of G. uat S. Triapitsyn sp. n. were reared in Mexico from the eggs of proconiine sharpshooters (Cicadellidae: Cicadellinae: Proconiini) in the genera Homalodisca Stål and Oncometopia Stål. Taxonomic and molecular evidence from five gene regions (28S-D2, ITS1, ITS2, COI, COII) is provided to help differentiate the new species from the morphologically similar taxon, G. ashmeadi Girault, which also belongs to the ater species group of Gonatocerus.

AbstractStator vachelliae new species is described from Texas, Mexico, El Salvador, and Venezuela and S. mexicanus new species is described from San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Stator usticolor (Sharp) and S. semicolon (Sharp) NEW COMBINATIONS have been determined as belonging to the sordidus complex. The following rearing records are recorded: S. vachelliae and S. subaeneus (Schaeffer) from Acacia farnesiana and S. mexicanus from Acacia cornigera.

Six new species of the genus Cenophengus LeConte, 1881 are described. Five of these new species were collected in Mexico, in the states of Hidalgo (Cenophengus mboi sp. nov. and Cenophengus hnogamu̱i sp. nov.), Coahuila (Cenophengus kikapu sp. nov.) and San Luis Potosí (Cenophengus tupae sp. nov., Cenophengus mumui sp. nov.). An additional species was collected in Puerta Parada, Guatemala (Cenophengus xiinbali sp. nov.). The new taxa described in the present study increase to 27 the number of species assigned to Cenophengus.

El congreso incluyo conferencias magistrales con énfasis en las metodologías y líneas de investigación en Odontologia actuales, impartidas por ponentes internacionales, de reconocida trayectoria científica. Este evento sin precedentes en la investigación en ciencias odontológicas en el país, conto con la participación de 34 trabajos presentados en modalidad oral por investigadores de diferentes países de Iberoamérica, participando en las categorías de pregrado, posgrado y libre; incluyendo las áreas temáticas Epidemiologia, Investigación Clínica y Casos Clínicos. Dichos trabajos fueron evaluados por un selecto jurado conformado por 17 académicos investigadores procedentes de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (México), Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (España), Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (México), Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (México), Universidad de Granada (España), Universidad Federal do Paraná (Brasil), Universidad Austral de Chile (Chile), Universidad de Talca (Chile), Universidad de Salamanca (España) y Hospital Nacional Benjamín Bloom (El Salvador). El Comité Científico Organizador del evento realizo la selección, corrección y compilación de los resúmenes de los trabajos que se presentan en estas memorias.

Five new species of the genus Colobostema Enderlein, 1926 from Mexico are described and illustrated: C. emilianoi (Chiapas), C. marielae (San Luis Potosi), C. valentinae (Jalisco), C. lupitae (Oaxaca) and C. marlettae (Yucatan). A key to the males of Neotropical species of Colobostema is provided. The male genitalia structures (especially the vestiture of parameres and the shape of tergite 9) indicates that all these new species form a group of closely related taxa, associated to the species of the Nearctic and Neotropical region.

El rancho de La Luz, ubicado en el municipio de Catorce, al norte del estado mexicano de San Luis Potosí, alberga la mina histórica de Santa Ana. Durante más de dos décadas esta mina no tuvo actividades, por lo que las familias de la comunidad comenzaron a emplearse en la creciente economía turística del pueblo vecino de Real de Catorce. Sin embargo, en el año de 2009 la empresa canadiense First Majestic Corp. intentó reactivar las actividades en Santa Ana. De inmediato, surgió una cruda oposición por parte de un movimiento social llamado Frente en Defensa de Wirikuta (fdw) que logró posicionar la iniciativa de First Majestic como uno de los temas más debatidos en la agenda nacional y, eventualmente, consiguió suspender las actividades mineras en la zona. En el contexto de una controversia pública respecto a la legitimidad social y moral de la minería, me propongo explorar la relación de la gente de La Luz con el espacio minero de Santa Ana: ¿cómo vincularse con la mina de Santa Ana y la empresa que la administra cuando las formas de sustento ya no tienen nada que ver con el trabajo minero?

Salvia huastecana is described and illustrated as a new species. It is known from the municipality of Xilitla, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. This taxon belongs to Salvia sect. Angulatae, is similar to S. albiflora and S. roscida but it can be distinguished by a higher number of flowers per verticillaster (9−12), longer caducous bracts with long caudate apex, hirsute calyx with erect trichomes and white corolla, sometimes with the upper lip and margins of the lateral lobes of the lower lip light blue stained. Photographs of living plants and the illustration of the new species are provided.

AbstractThe bark-beetle genus Cactopinus, containing seven species, is reviewed. Distributional data, biological notes, a discussion of each species, and a key for the separation of all species are included. New species are: C. desertus (California) and C. depressus (San Luis Potosi, Mexico). C. cactophthorus Wood and C. mexicanus Wood are placed in a new genus, Cactopinorus.
