Panorpodes kuandianensis, a new species of short-faced scorpionflies (Mecoptera, Panorpodidae) from Liaoning, China

Panorpodes kuandianensis, a new species of short-faced scorpionflies (family Panorpodidae), is described and illustrated from Kuandian County, Liaoning Province, northeastern China. It is the third species of Panorpodidae from China, and can be separated from its congeners by the following combination of characters: wings with blackish brown markings; vein R 4+5 much shorter than half the length of R 2+3 ; hypovalve expanded apically with an almost truncated apex, shorter than the stalk, and with more than ten black spines along the apical inner margin. A key to species of Panorpodes is updated to include the new species.
