Panorpodes kuandianensis, a new species of short-faced scorpionflies (family Panorpodidae), is described and illustrated from Kuandian County, Liaoning Province, northeastern China. It is the third species of Panorpodidae from China, and can be separated from its congeners by the following combination of characters: wings with blackish brown markings; vein R 4+5 much shorter than half the length of R 2+3 ; hypovalve expanded apically with an almost truncated apex, shorter than the stalk, and with more than ten black spines along the apical inner margin. A key to species of Panorpodes is updated to include the new species.

Stenogiffardia bifurca sp. nov. is described from a series of specimens collected in the former Antananarivo, Fianarantsoa, and Toliara Provinces of Madagascar. This is the first record of the genus,Evans, 1977 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae) from Madagascar, which is now the third genus of the tribe Chiasmini known from the island. The distribution of,is analyzed and an identification key to species is given.,Evans, 1977 is removed from synonymy with,(Kirkaldy, 1906).

AbstractA new species of the extinct rove beetle genus Hesterniasca Zhang, Wang & Xu, 1992 is described and illustrated on the basis of a well-preserved specimen from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation at Huangbanjigou of Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, Northeastern China. Based on the examination of this new species that is preserved better than the type species of the genus, Hesterniasca is firmly placed in the recent subfamily Tachyporinae, tentatively in the recent tribe Tachyporini MacLeay, 1825. Arguments for the Early Cretaceous age of the Laiyang Formation in Shandong Province, Eastern China, from where the type species of the genus, Hesterniasca obesa Zhang, Wang & Xu, 1992, has been discovered are provided.

A taxonomic key to the species of Campoletis known in China is provided.

Parapercis macrophthalma is confirmed as a valid species and redescribed on the basis of the holotype and other specimens collected from the type locality, Taiwan, and Japan. It is morphologically similar to P. muronis Tanaka, 1918, but differs in having five vertical transverse bars that extend well below the lateral line versus five oblique transverse bars, with the third to fifth bars ending on or above the lateral line. A new species is also described on the basis of a specimen collected from southwestern Taiwan. It is distinct in having numerous pores interconnected by canals on the head, forming 10 vertical or oblique rows on the cheek and opercular apparatus, predorsal scales extending to the level of the posterior margin of the eye, four dorsal-fin spines, six oblique bars laterally on the body, and a combination of other characters. A key to species of Parapercis with narrow transverse bars on the upper body is provided.

The productus-group within the sea lice genus Caligus Müller, 1785 is characterised by the loss of two and the reduction or loss of the third of the three plumose setae normally carried on the posterior margin of the distal exopodal segment of the first swimming leg. We describe a new species, Caligus lethrinicola n.sp., from a lethrinid host collected in New Caledonia. We review the group and recognize 15 species as valid, including the new species. The type material of the three varieties of Caligus mauritanicus Brian, 1924 is re-examined and the var. temnodontis is here recognized as a distinct species, Caligus temnodontis Brian, 1924. The typical and miniscula varieties are recognised as synonyms of Caligus dakari van Beneden, 1892 and C. haemulonis Krøyer, 1863 respectively. Additional synonymies are proposed within the group. Supplementary observations are presented on the morphology of C. dakari, C. haemulonis and C. temnodontis. A brief differential diagnosis is presented for each of the 14 previously described valid species and a key to species has been constructed.

Linoderus smetanai sp. nov. is described from Costa Rica. This is the third species in the southern Central American genus Linoderus of the subtribe Philonthina (tribe Staphylinini). The new species was included in a previous dataset of 52 morphological characters scored for the genus and representatives of its allied genera (Neopescolinus Chani-Posse, Paederomimus Sharp, Pescolinus Sharp) and its phylogenetic position analysed by Maximum Parsimony and Bayesian Inference. The analyses unambiguously placed L. smetanai within Linoderus in a sister-group relationship with L. alajuelensis Chani-Posse & Solodovnikov and L. gracilipes Sharp. A revised key to species and an updated phylogeny of Linoderus are also provided.

Allium section Rhizirideum is reviewed for South Korea and neighboring northeastern China based on critical observation of wild populations and herbarium materials. Species delimitations are re-evaluated on the basis of morphological and somatic chromosome numbers, resulting in the recognition of five species. Allium dumebuchum from Ulleungdo Island, South Korea, is described as a new species. This species is most similar to A. senescens due to its habits, but is clearly distinguished particularly by its rhomboid scapes in cross-secion, light purple perianth color, entire and narrowly triangular inner filaments, and flowering season from late September. One previously recognized species is placed into synonymy: A. pseudosenescens (under A. senescens). Photographs and a key to species of Allium section Rhizirideum in South Korea and northeastern China are provided in addition to information on nomenclatural types, synonymies, chromosome numbers, distribution, and specimens examined.

A new species of the staphylinid subfamily Oxytelinae is described and figured from a series of well-preserved compression fossils of the Yixian Formation (Early Cretaceous), Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, northeastern China. The species is placed in the recent genusAnotylusThomson, 1859 based on typical morphological features for the genus as well as secondary sexual characters. The strong projection of the anterior pronotal angles is a feature also possessed by males of several recent Neotropical taxa in the genus. This is the earliest fossil rove beetle with clearly demonstrable sexual dimorphism.
