The species-rank taxonomy of the genus Adetomyrma Ward, 1994 is revised. Nine species are distinguished with eightdescribed as new: A. aureocuprea sp. nov., A. bressleri sp. nov., A. caputleae sp. nov., A. cassis sp. nov., A. caudapinniger sp.nov., A. cilium sp. nov., A. clarivida sp. nov., A. goblin sp. nov. Worker-male associations are identified for all worker-basedspecies: A. bressleri, A. caputleae, A. goblin along with A. venatrix Ward, 1994 from which the male is described for the firsttime. Five new species are described only from males. An ergatoid queen of Adetomyrma is described for the first time. Keys to species for workers and males are given.

We describe the male of Sinhomidia bicolor for the first time noting a morphological difference from the female. A new species, Sinhomidia guangxiensis sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The new species differs from S. bicolor by the appendages lacking scales, the mucronal basal spine reaching the apex of subapical tooth, the number of chaetae on the trochanteral organ and the distribution of macrochaetae on Th. II, Abd I and Abd II. A key to Sinhomidia species and a diagnostic table to separate male and female S. bicolor and the new species are provided.

Homoranthus A.Cunn. ex Schauer, an Australian endemic genus of shrubs in the Myrtaceae, is reviewed. A total of 31 species is recognised for the genus, including the following eight new species which are here described for the first time: H. bebo L.M.Copel., H. brevistylis L.M.Copel., H. bruhlii L.M.Copel., H. clarksonii L.M.Copel., H. cummingii L.M.Copel, H. elusus L.M.Copel., H. inopinatus L.M.Copel., J.Holmes & G.Holmes and H. vagans L.M.Copel. H. bornhardtiensis J.T.Hunter is synonymised under H. prolixus Craven & S.R.Jones. A key to identify all species of Homoranthus is provided and notes are given on the phenology, distribution, habitat, conservation status and distinguishing features of each species. The distribution of all species of Homoranthus is mapped and illustrations are provided for each of the eight new species.

The Locris species and subspecies from Madagascar are revised and a new combination is proposed: Locris johannae var. nigrolimbata Lallemand, 1910 to L. nigrolimbatacomb. nov. Illustrations and description of male terminalia are given for the first time for the three Locris species and an identification key is provided. A new species of the Malagasy endemic genus Bourgoinrana Soulier-Perkins, 2012 is described: B. beondrokaensis Le Cesne & Soulier-Perkins sp. nov. An updated identification key to the species of Bourgoinrana is provided.

The Peruvian genus Machaerophorus has long been reduced to synonymy of several genera of various tribes. With the discovery of two new species described below, M. arequipa and M. laticarpus, and availability of material for molecular phylogenetic studies, the genus is reinstated for the first time in over a century and included within the South American “Cremolobeae-Eudemeae-Schizopetaleae” clade.

As a result of study of 18 samples, collected in Lake Teletskoye and inflowing rivers in 1992–1995, 34 diatom species of the genus Navicula Bory were found. Among them 21 taxa are new for the studied region, 7 species (Navicula arkona, N. hangaica, N. cf. pseudoreinhardtii, N. ricardae, N. scaniae, N. schweigeri, N. suecicarum) are recorded for the first time in Russia. One new species (N. pseudoharmoniae sp. nov.) is described. It is compared with N. harmoniae and N. digitoconvergens.

Euastrum lacustre is reported for Russia for the first time. This alcaliphilic species was found in the periphyton and plankton of three lakes in the Kursk Region (European Russia). A description of morphology, including the relief of cell wall, and habitats where this taxon is found are represented. LM and SEM microphotographs are provided. Morphological differences of E. lacustre from similar species are discussed. New species for region, namely Closterium aciculare, Cosmarium formosulum, C. granatum, C. pseudoinsigne, C. reniforme and Staurastrum pingue, are found in the samples together with E. lacustre.

The small Microgastrinae genus Venanides is recorded from Europe (Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic) for the first time, where one species, Venanides carcinae sp. nov., described here, proves to be a regular solitary parasitoid of Carcina quercana. Outline notes on its biology, phenology and abundance are given.
