Abstract A new species of long-legged sesarmid crab of the Leptarma leptosoma (Hilgendorf, 1869) species-group is described from mangroves in south-western India. In the general carapace features as well as in the proportions of the long ambulatory legs, L. biju n. sp. is most similar to L. gracilipes (Li, Rahayu & Ng, 2018), from eastern Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, but can easily be distinguished by the structure of the gonopods as well as the leg proportions.

Four new Asian taxa are described and illustrated as part of a forthcoming taxonomic revision of the cultivated species of Begonia (Begoniaceae). The new species B. argenteomarginata (sect. Symbegonia) is described from Papua New Guinea. Two new species from section Petermannia are described: B. polilloensis from the Philippines and B. rachmatii from Sulawesi, Indonesia, both of which are unusual in having palmately compound leaf blades. A key is provided for these and a previously described species, B. oligandra, also with palmately compound leaf blades and in section Petermannia. The new subspecies B. brevirimosa subsp. exotica (sect. Petermannia) is described from the Central Range of Papua New Guinea and a brief history of its cultivation is presented.

Two new species of the genus Fulvius Stål are described from the Philippines and Papua New Guinea. A taxonomic review of representatives of the F.bifenestratus species group, illustrations of the male genitalia, a color habitus image of each species, and a key to species of the group are provided.

Pseudoparasitus (Gymnolaelaps) annectans (Womersley) and two new species are assigned to a new genus, Nidilaelaps.Nidilaelaps has a number of important differences from Pseudoparasitus and other genera that Nidilaelaps annectans hasbeen previously assigned to, but shares characters with Australopapuan vertebrate-associated taxa, particularly the“Androlaelaps” ulysses species group and Laelapsella Womersley. Nidilaelaps annectans is common in a variety ofmammal and bird nests and also in forest litter. The two new species (N. holdsworthi sp. nov., N. lisae sp. nov.) arerecorded from mammals, birds, or their nests in Papua New Guinea or Australia. Nidilaelaps is inferred to be endemic tothe Australopapuan region. The presence of N. annectans in other regions is suggested to be due to relatively recent colonisation, facilitated by its many phoretic associations, particularly with synanthropic rodents.

A taxonomic revision of Didymochlaena (Didymochlaenaceae) from Asia and the Pacific region is conducted based on morphological and molecular evidence. Seven species are recognized, of which four are described as new and a new status is raised to a species from a variety. These four new species include D. fijiensis from Fiji, D. philippensis from the Philippines, D. punctata from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, and D. solomonensis from the Solomon Islands. The new status is D. oceanica from Papua New Guinea. Six of the seven species have all been erroneously treated as D. truncatula by earlier pteridologists. A key to the species is provided and descriptions of all species are given.

The Camponotus aureopilus species-group is defined for the first time and revised at species level. The group contains nine known species: aureopilus Viehmeyer (with its new junior synonym, velutinus Stitz), cyrtomyrmodes Donisthorpe, densopilus new species, flavocrines Donisthorpe, mussolinii Donisthorpe, posteropilus new species, subpilus new species, thadeus new species and xanthopilus new species. All species are limited to Papua New Guinea except for thadeus, which is found in Queensland, Australia. The distinctive species C. thadeus is only the second in this large and widespread genus to possess a metapleural gland.

Alpheopsis keijii sp. nov. is described on the basis of material collected between 90 and 487 m in Japan, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Réunion Island. The new species belongs to the A. trispinosa species group and is morphologically closest to A. trispinosa (Stimpson, 1860), A. garricki Yaldwyn, 1971, A. shearmii (Alcock & Anderson, 1899), and especially A. africana Holthuis, 1952. Field data indicates that A. keijii sp. nov. may be associated with deep-water sponge grounds. A provisional key to the currently known species of the A. trispinosa group is provided.

Abstract. Two new genera and eight new species of benthic foraminifera are described from the shallow water, tropical lagoon of Madang, Papua New Guinea. The new hauerinid genus Pseudolachlanella is characterized by juvenile cryptoquinqueloculine, adult almost massiline arranged chambers, and a slitlike, curved aperture with parallel sides and a long, slender, curved miliolid tooth. Pitella haigi n. gen., n. sp. is a new foraminifera with cryptoquinqueloculine arranged chambers, an almost entirely pitted shell surface (pseudopores) and a rounded aperture with a short simple tooth. Among the other species described as new are four hauerinids and two agglutinated foraminifera All new species described here occur sporadically in the shallow water back- and forereef environments of the lagoon (0–55m), and live infaunally and epifaunally in well-oxygenated, fine and coarse grained biogenic sediments. They are absent in muddy, organic-rich, low-oxygen sedimentary environments within bay inlets where variations of salinity are considerable.

The genus Mesophleps Hübner (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is revised; 54 available names (including one unjustifiedemendation), one junior primary homonym and one unavailable name were considered; type material of 44 previouslydescribed nominal species was examined. Nine new species are described: M. acutunca sp. nov., M. bifidella sp. nov., M.unguella sp. nov., M. gigantella sp. nov., M. coffeae sp. nov., M. parvella sp. nov., M. aspina sp. nov., M. truncatella sp.nov. and M. undulatella sp. nov.
