A new cirratulid species of the genus Chaetozone has been discovered offshore in fine muddy sediments in the Bay of Biscay, France. This species is unusual in having an expanded fusiform anterior body region and numerous subdermal glands along the entire body that produce an elaborate and distinctive pattern when stained with Methyl Green. The new species is compared with closely related congeners and a review of Chaetozone species from the North Atlantic Ocean is presented.

Exploration of the New England and Corner Rise Seamounts produced four new species of chrysogorgiid octocorals with the spiral iridogorgiid growth form. Three species are described as new in the genus Iridogorgia and one is described in the new genus Rhodaniridogorgia. Both genera have representatives in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Iridogorgia magnispiralis sp. nov., is one of the largest octocorals encountered in the deep sea and seems to be widespread in the Atlantic.

The first species ofLamellisabella to be described from the Atlantic Ocean has rows of small teeth on the tentacles. It occurs at about 4000 m depth in the Bay of Biscay, and its range probably extends along the continental rise at least as far south as the Gulf of Guinea.

AbstractSeven species of Erythropini from the northeast Atlantic and one from the northwest Atlantic are dealt with. Four are described as new species, and three are new to science but remain unnamed because of mutilated condition. A known species Katerythrops oceanae, is described for the first time for the male pleopods and a revision of the diagnosis of the genus is presented. Five are pelagic species while three were obtained from the stomach contents of demersal fishes. Huit especes d'Erythropini de l'Atlantique sont traitees, dont sept du nord-est et une du nordouest de cet ocean. Quatre sont decrites comme nouvelles et trois sont nouvelle pour la science, mais non nommees en raison de leur condition mutilee. Les pleopodes males d'un espece connue, Katerythrops oceanae, sont decrits pour la premiere fois et la diagnose du genre est revisee. Cinq especes sont pelagiques et trois proviennent de contenus stomacaux de poissons demersaux.

Collections of bottom-living animals from the continental slope of the northern Bay of Biscay contain a new species of Oligobrachia; this increases the number of species of Oligobrachia known from the North Atlantic to five. Oligobrachiids are quite frequently found incubating embryos and five individuals of the new species carry embryos. Oligobrachia embryos have been studied morphologically already (Ivanov, 1957, 1975; Southward & Southward, 1963; Brattegard, 1966; Ivanov & Gureeva, 1976) and should prove useful material for experimental studies in future. Incubation is also known in the family Siboglinidae, but neither embryos nor larvae have been seen in any other pogonophoran families. The Biscay collections also contain additional specimens of Oligobrachia ivanovi and these have been useful in revising the description of this rather rare species.

Currently, three species in the squid family Bathyteuthidae are recognized as valid: Bathyteuthis abyssicola Hoyle, 1885, Bathyteuthis bacidifera Roper, 1968, and Bathyteuthis berryi Roper, 1968. Using morphology and DNA sequencing (COI, 16S), we discovered three additional species of bathyteuthids collected from the North Atlantic Ocean and adjacent basins between 2009 and 2018. Two of the newly discovered species share the absence of arm-base photophores as well as differences in arm-sucker and buccallappet sucker counts. In the third species, the adult female individual has arm-base photophores but the two juveniles (sex undetermined) do not. All examined individuals of this species exhibited <1% divergence rate for the COI locus. We describe and name the three new species based on both morphological and molecular characters.
