The Indian species of Spilomena Shuckard are reviewed resulting in the description of six new species viz., S. attenboroughi Tessy, Sureshan et Binoy, S. fulvopleuris Tessy, Sureshan et Binoy, S. reticularis Tessy, Sureshan et Binoy, S. sahyadriensis Tessy, Sureshan et Girish Kumar, S. tsunekii Tessy, Sureshan et Girish Kumar, and S. tuberculata Tessy, Sureshan et Girish Kumar, all from Southern India. A key to Indian species of Spilomena is provided.

Dudgeodes sartorii sp. nov. is described based on nymphs from the Megamalai hills of Western Ghats, Southern India. The nymph of Dudgeodes sartorii sp. nov. can be distinguished from other Indian species of Dudgeodes by i) prothorax with two rounded tubercles; (ii) outer margin of mesothorax with simple setae; (iii) distinct maculae in the distal region of femora; (iv) transverse row of setae on fore femora narrower with blunt apex and (v) dark brownish band on the 5th segment of cerci

Contarinia manii (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) is described as a new species, on the basis of adults reared from remarkable 'cylinder-piston' galls formed from contiguous leaflets of Acacia ferruginea D.C. in southern India. These galls have been known since 1952 but adults were not reared until 2007. The new species, and another Indian species, Contarinia ramachandrani (Mani), induce similar but distinct galls on the same host plant. A third species, Contarinia carolinae Gagné, induces leaf galls on Acacia senegal in Kenya. Comparison of adult, pupal and larval morphology indicate that these three species may represent a monophyletic group associated with complex leaf galls on Acacia, in East Africa and India.

A new species of Aphelocheirus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Aphelocheiridae) inhabiting riffles of a stream in Kerala state in southern India is described. Aphelocheirus kaygieyess n. sp. is diagnosed by widely separated hemelytra and the pattern of dark maculation on the vertex. This species is compared to other Indian species of Aphelocheirus. Seven species of Aphelocheirus are known now from India.

Ficus racemosa with an Indo Australasian distribution has so far been recorded to harbour in its fruits, nematode species of the aphelenchoid genera Schistonchus, Ficophagus and Martininema, and species of diplogastrid genera Teratodiplogaster and Pristionchus. The Indian species reported so far from Ficus racemosa lack comprehensive details on morphology and molecular characterization. In this paper, we describe, three new species of nematodes obtained from syconia (enclosed globular infructescence or fruit) of Ficus racemosa found in southern India. Ficophagus glomerata n. sp. is characterised by a small body having b=5.2-9.6, c= 18-23; slightly set-off lip region having well developed cephalic framework; secretory-excretory pore opens near the head; slender stylet with small, rounded/ sloping knobs; ovoid median bulb with relatively posteriorly-placed valve plates; males with sickle-shaped spicules having spatulate or hammer-shaped capitulum, represented by an elongate-ovoid condylus and long digitate rostrum and tail conoid with fine, hair-like terminal spike. Teratodiplogaster glomerata n. sp. is characterised by long tubular and narrow stoma with fractal pieces in prostegostom; long rectangular metacorpus; female reproductive system with conspicuous spermatheca and amoeboid sperms; males having short, arcuate spicules and keeled gubernaculum; genital papillae in the configuration of P1, P2, C, P3, P4, P5d, (P6d, P7), P8d, Ph and tail conoid with a terminal or subterminal mucro. Pristionchus glomerata n. sp. is characterised by four morphotypes mainly with variations in lip region, stoma, spicules, gubernaculum, and the position of genital papillae. Phylogenetic analyses based upon near-full-length small subunit (SSU) and D2-D3 expansion segments of large subunit (LSU) rRNA genes confirmed affinities with sister species of corresponding genera.

Sparsorythus srokai sp. nov. is described from the Veerapandi River, Theni district, Tamil Nadu, India based on nymphs of both sexes. The nymphs of Sparsorythus srokai sp. nov. can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: i) presence of lateral setae in each segment of caudal filaments, ii) dorsal surface of labrum entirely covered with scattered ribbon-like bristles, iii) posterior margin of mesonotum reaching abdominal segment III in both sexes, and iv) left prostheca with several pointed teeth apically. The new species is compared with other Indian species: S. gracilis Sroka & Soldán, 2008, S. sivaramakrishnani Sivaruban, Srinivasan, Barathy, Rosi & Isack, 2021 and S. nanjangudensis Muthukatturaja & Balasubramanian, 2021. The distributional map and key to the genus Sparsorythus in Southern India are also given.

We here describe Sitana attenboroughii sp. nov., a new species of fan-throated lizard of the genus Sitana Cuvier, 1829 from coastal Kerala in southern India. The new species morphologically is closer to Sitana visiri Deepak, 2016 (in Deepak et al. 2016a), however, differs in having higher numbers of ventral scales and a comparatively short but richly colored dewlap. Genetically the new species shows affinity to Sitana marudhamneydhal Deepak, Khandekar, Varma & Chaitanya, 2016 from which it differs in an uncorrected pairwise sequence divergence of 2.2% for a fragment of mitochondrial Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase (NADH) subunit 2 gene.

A new species of the hermit crab genus Diogenes Dana, 1851, D. spongicola, is described and illustrated on the basis of material collected from two locations off southern India. It appears close to D. takedai Rahayu, 2012 among about 70 congeners, but easily differentiated from the latter by the spinulose anterolateral margins of the shield, the article 2 of the antennal peduncle armed only with one distal spine, the longer, spinose antennal acicle, the absence of prominent spines on the ventrolateral margin of the cheliped meri, and the different color of the cheliped palm. Specimens of the new species were all collected from cavities of a callyspongiid sponge Callyspongia diffusa (Ridley, 1884), suggesting a possible association between the hermit crab and sponge.

The species of the genus Phanuromyia Dodd, 1914, belonging to the subfamily Telenominae are egg parasitoids of planthoppers belonging to the families Issidae, Flatidae, Fulgoridae and Ricaniidae (Hemiptera: Fulguroidea). So far eleven species of Phanuromyia are known from India. Fifteen new species of Phanuromyia Dodd are described here: P. chalukyasp. nov., P. cherasp. nov., P. cholasp. nov., P. gangasp. nov., P. hoysalasp. nov., P. kadambasp. nov., P. kakatiyasp. nov., P. kanvasp. nov., P. nirvighnasp. nov., P. pallavasp. nov., P. pandyasp. nov., P. rashtrakutasp. nov., P. satavahanasp. nov., P. tuluvasp. nov. and P. vakatakasp. nov. A key to females of all the Indian species of Phanuromyia is provided.
