Urological calculus is a common disease in urology. Urological calculi are generally more common in adults but have become more common in children in recent years. Most existing studies focus on the prevention of urinary calculi in adults; there are relatively few articles on calculi in children. Reported preventive measures are not comprehensive enough, while the latest research progress has not been updated. The pathogenesis and preventive measures associated with urinary calculi have been the focus of research, but many preventive measures still need further clarification. This article reviews the progress on preventive measures for urinary calculi in children.

To investigate the application of titanium polypropylene mesh in breast reconstruction. In this study, we selected the literature data in recent 4 years to analyze the application of titanium polypropylene mesh in breast reconstruction. Using the keywords of “breast reconstruction,” “titanium polypropylene mesh,” “application” and “research progress,” we analyzed and summarized the related research progress of titanium polypropylene mesh in breast reconstruction. The research was conducted using the analysis of titanium polypropylene mesh, titanium polypropylene mesh in breast reconstruction surgery advantages, adverse complications related to titanium polypropylene mesh in breast reconstruction surgery and preventive measures. By constantly improving these aspects in the research process, the current study has certain value, and may guide the research work of titanium mesh in breast reconstruction.

Background: According to recent figures, Amsterdam is the municipality with the highest absolute number of suicides and the second highest suicide rate in the Netherlands. Aims: The aim of the study was to identify time trends and demographic differences in the occurrence of nonfatal suicide attempts versus suicides. Methods: We used registrations of forensic physicians and ambulance services of the Municipal Health Service of Amsterdam to study 1,004 suicides and 6,166 nonfatal attempts occurring in Amsterdam over the period 1996–2005. Results: The number of nonfatal attempts declined from 1996 to 2005, but the number of completed suicides remained relatively stable. Although case fatality was strongly associated with method used, we also found higher case fatalities for men and older people independent of method. Conclusions: The case fatality results suggest differences in motive among different demographic groups: possibly the wish to die is stronger among men and elderly. This finding had implications for the success to be expected from different preventive measures.

Abstract. Which data to analyze, and how, are fundamental questions of all empirical research. As there are always numerous flexibilities in data-analytic decisions (a “garden of forking paths”), this poses perennial problems to all empirical research. Specification-curve analysis and multiverse analysis have recently been proposed as solutions to these issues. Building on the structural analogies between primary data analysis and meta-analysis, we transform and adapt these approaches to the meta-analytic level, in tandem with combinatorial meta-analysis. We explain the rationale of this idea, suggest descriptive and inferential statistical procedures, as well as graphical displays, provide code for meta-analytic practitioners to generate and use these, and present a fully worked real example from digit ratio (2D:4D) research, totaling 1,592 meta-analytic specifications. Specification-curve and multiverse meta-analysis holds promise to resolve conflicting meta-analyses, contested evidence, controversial empirical literatures, and polarized research, and to mitigate the associated detrimental effects of these phenomena on research progress.
