Just as social and organizational research has benefited significantly from evolutionary approaches, likewise an understanding of the evolution of teams can advance our knowledge of team formation and functioning. The current paper traces the multilevel emergence of teams as a unique type of group that evolved specially for complex task performance, outlines the evolved mechanisms that enable humans to use teams as a form of adaptive technology, and describes how teams leverage flexible structural adjustments and distinct human motives to tackle a wide range of challenges. We conclude by discussing the implications of this novel framework for team research.

Tactical personnel work in an occupation that involves tasks requiring a high level of cardiovascular fitness as well as muscular strength and endurance. The aim of this literature review was to identify and critique studies investigating the relationship between physical fitness, quantified by fitness assessment measures, and occupational task performance. Databases were searched for relevant articles which assessed a fitness measure and a measure of occupational performance. A total of 15 articles were included and were deemed to be of acceptable methodological quality (8.4/12 on the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklist). Included articles assessed a variety of fitness attributes and occupational tasks. Across tactical groups, there appear to be no standardized fitness tests that can determine occupational performance, with aerobic fitness, anaerobic fitness, strength, endurance, power, and agility all being associated with occupational task performance. A wide range of fitness assessments appears to be required to predict occupational performance within tactical personnel. Efforts should be made to base fitness assessments on occupational demands unique to both the environment and requirements of each individual tactical unit.

AbstractNowadays the composition and formation of effective teams is highly important for both companies to assure their competitiveness and for a wide range of emerging applications exploiting multiagent collaboration (e.g. crowdsourcing, human-agent collaborations). The aim of this article is to provide an integrative perspective on team composition, team formation, and their relationship with team performance. Thus, we review the contributions in both the computer science literature and the organizational psychology literature dealing with these topics. Our purpose is twofold. First, we aim at identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the contributions made by these two diverse bodies of research. Second, we aim at identifying cross-fertilization opportunities that help both disciplines benefit from one another. Given the volume of existing literature, our review is not intended to be exhaustive. Instead, we have preferred to focus on the most significant contributions in both fields together with recent contributions that break new ground to spur innovative research.

The process of geometry modeling of 3D turbine blades is basically related to the necessity of finite elements with high quality to be obtained, in the process of flow domain approximation. Various approaches for geometry modeling and grid generation, ways to attain elements of high quality and having positive volumes, have been under research and are presented in current paper. Developed methodology and established techniques to high quality grid, are implemented into practice, for geometry modeling of a wide range of turbine and compressor blades of complex geometry.
